New Russian Tier IX Medium!?

PaddyOricK's Photo PaddyOricK 27 Jan 2012

Hello guys,

I am currently on my glory way to the T-54 and wondered, why there is no second Russian Tier IX Medium like the T-55 or the T-62? They could allow some different gameplay compared to the T-54 or have other strengths/weakspots. What do you think about that idea?

Yeah, another influx of high tier mediums is just what we need right now. Especially if they will be russian meaning you can swap the crews.

Hmmm why?

I mean most Russian tanks of that era were nearly the same as the following tank or the tank before.
Nearly the same shape, armor, mobility... (Small, green, round turret, red star and ready is the average Russian medium tank).

So there won't be that much difference.

Also it seems that WG is trying to make equal tech trees with 2 heavy lines, 2 TD lines, 1 Scout tree, 1 artillery line and 1 medium line.
this would split that behavior because it would be hard to find enough tanks to fill the medium lines for the other nations.

Object 907.
Same front hull armor as T-54 (120mm@60deg).
Slightly better side armor (90mm effective vs 80mm)
Somewhat better turret front (230mm)
Lower speed (50km/h)
Heavier (38t vs 35.3t) with same engine, so worse hp/t ratio hence worse acceleration.
Same armament.

I'd like to have tier10 mediums. T-62 would be nice to have there (Fully upgraded T-54 seems to be T-55 already), bit more firepower than in T-54, otherwise about the same.

And give prototype/early Leopard 1 to germans, and M60 Patton to U.S. French can make some *hit up.

So good firepower and mobility, ok armor for USSR/Germans, good armor and firepower for U.S.

Timeframe fits well enough for the game: It doesn't make any sense right now either.

Off topic, but I had to check your stats and saw you are doing very well in T-43.

In that case, you are just going love T-44 :)

I am currently 50K short from T-54 myself.

You checked my stats!? Crazy stats-stalker you ... lol :)

I have no idea why my T-43 performs that good ... honestly, I kinda think it's a horrible tank, but somehow it does the job! Must be the magic of the red star!

I hope T-44 will turn out to be as awesome as you say mate!  :Smile-playing:  :Smile-izmena:

Back to topic now: Yes, fully upgraded T-54 is very close to T-55, although there a few little differences in the appereance of the hull ... I want T-62!  :P

I'd rather, they add tier X mediums instead, for all nations ofc.

Cuz I already have 200k exp collected on my t-54.

I loved my T-43 untill i bought T-44. You will see the difference. T-44 stock just double better than T-43 fully upgraded.

I thought there's already apl an for a second medium line for the Russian? although only until tier 8 and t-54 is the top of both lines.
T-34 goes to t-34M then A-44 and so on? Is this plan cancelled? It wouldn't be that hard to add a new tier 9 at the end of this alternative route to T-54..

Very pleasant, but not sure about the time frame. That gun is a 100 or a smoothbore 115?

Nevertheless, might as well have it in the game. Death to chinese?

100mm D-54 as on in-game T-54. Early blueprints had 100mm D-10T and 100mm LB-1, so could have same in-game gun selection as T-54.

Forget tier 9, what the game sorely needs are tier 10 mediums.  Lets get the game steered AWAY from heavy tanks domination.  :Smile_honoring:

Object 907 looks nice but there is also Object 430. It also could be a 9 Tier med.

Object 430

Year: 1957
Developer: Kharkov

Gun: 100mm D-54TS (50 rounds)
Stabilization: Biplanar
Rangefinder: Stereoscopic TPDS
Coaxial Weapon: 7.62mm
Bow Weapon: 7.62mm

Weight: 36 metric tons
Length: 8,785 mm
Width: 3,090 mm
Height: 2,160 mm

Crew: 4
Engine: 580 hp
Maximum Highway Speed: 55 km/h
Highway Range: 450 kilometers

Notes: Was intended to create a tank that would be considerably better than the T-54. Design work began in 1953; and prototypes were built in 1957 and tested in 1958. Was decided not to proceed with the design, due to it having totally new equipment for everything.

It is progenitor of T64 as you can see design work began in 1953 soo it could be added in game :)

Way too good for tier 9 (130mm hull armor, 250mm front turret), it would be my choice for tier 10 - earlier and different then T-62 (which is in effect just T-54/55 with another gun).
IMO it would be possible to make two Soviet medium trees from the start. Tree one:
Tier 2:	T-12
	I	\
Tier 3:	T-24	T-29
	I	I
Tier 4:	T-111	T-28
	I	/
Tier 5:	Obj.115 T-34
	I	/	I
Tier 6:	T-34M T-34/85
	I I
Tier 7:	A-44 T-43
	I I
Tier 8:	Obj.416 T-44
	I I
Tier 9:	Obj.907 T-54
	I	/
Tier10:	Obj.430

Object 115:

60/40/40 hull, 60/50/50 turret, 50km/h, guns available - 76mm L-10 (stock), 76mm F-34, 57mm ZiS-4 and 85mm F-30. Basically tier-5 T-28.

Yes, just like US M48 it's hull was cast and heavily inspired by IS-3 hull shape.
