I love the IS-3 tank, it is awsome fun
Even stock I usually did 1k xp games using its speed to flank and in worst case, spam HE on the target.
It is not really a frontline tank, its hullarmor is to weak but if you manage to hide it in some way you eat your opponents for breakfast.
I ove speed in this game thats why I in general hate heavy tanks, but this feels like a medium with its agility. SO to be honest, should I unlock the IS-4 for or wait for the new tier 9 which is more inline with the IS-3, with paperarmor, speed and a huge gun?
And anyone have an eta on the new patch?

it used to be crap after beta.
Now with advent of recent patches, crew skills, spaced armour etc its a really good tank.

Well with my m103 Is 3 is one of the rare tanks that I take seriously , I bounce a lot when trying to hit even at the front hull because of angled armor , Also sometimes the side skirts do their job very well and they block my shots even at the side, only weakness is its ammo rack I suppose because I one shot 2 is3 only with my m103. Also It is a pain to grind to bl9 I think because of 175 mm pen gun, (which is under-powered by all means)

Not even close to being the best tank in the game, but it does fairly well.
Its only a pain when you get t9-10 fights, otherwise you can try flanking them to death.

I agree with coirex. IS3s greatest asset is speed and manouverability. Flanking and running is what it does best. Ofcause with the bl9 it gets a whole lot more fun, but in the end you can use the other guns just as well if you move to flank/weakspot

WTH are you thinking? There would be absolutley NO historical accuracy if that tank were 1 tier over the tiger two. Countless IS-3s were destroyed by KTs in WW2, I'd say those tanks are up to par. And besides the M103 was specifically made to crush the IS-3s ego (I like the tank but its not the strongest) so if IS-3=tier 9 then M103=tier 10

It isnt so hard to penetrate it with KV with 107mm or guns with similar penetration. King tiger is better for me. for thicker armor and more accurate gun. T32 is quite agile but its gun isnt very effective against t9/10, but armor is good. And KT is the prettiest tank in the game i think. Like if you think too
