The only bad thing with T40 TD is that I cannot have two of them in my garage.

I hated being on the pointy side of this thing, because it was always beyond view range.
So i got one for myself and like it. Some maps are better suited because its quite a camper, and the gun depression is awful. But i think this could be a keeper once its elited.

Mine sat around unused in my garage for a few days, but while the end of WW2 celebration was in progress I elited it pretty quickly. An absolutely great TD in my book. I already knew the Howitzer from the T-82, which helped quite a lot.

What are you talking about ? KW-1 gets 70-80% hits on side, even on quite long distance.
I can even take 1/2 hp of KW in front before he can spot me and start to aim at my direction, and T40 is best Tier 4 tank for me, and this canon is used on Tier 5-6 and even stock 7 US tanks (not sure if this model or one higher, but penetration/dmg is same), and on E8 sherman, and even T20 it is quite relible and fun to play. On tier 4 this gun is MONSTER, especialy that T-40 have one of best, if not best gun angles from all not turreted TD's.
Btw. My record is 9 kills on game up to Tier 6 :>

Haha, just checked PlanetWot and as I only played that one game yesterday I can see I got an efficiency of 14400...

Just look into it!
1. Being bottom tier happens, regardless of tank. Though the T40 isn't that bad when bottom tier, anyway.
2. You should be able to penetrate KV-1s with 128mm pen (76mm M1A1). KV-1s penetrate each other all the time and they've only got 120 pen.
3. The Hetzer has less pen. Much less (106).
4. The Hetzer also has a worse RoF, slightly less alpha, slightly worse traverse, much lower view range and much worse mobility... in fact, it's worse in every respect except 9mm of frontal armour.
Personally, I found the T40 to be a great TD. More fun than the M10&M36 (though they're not bad, either - just less fun).

My carefully tended T40 has been emasculated since version 8.
1 I used to kill KV-1 all the time with maybe 4-6 shots. I just finished a game where I got 19 good hits on a KV-1 and ground it down to about 60%. I'm getting really tired of the number of bounces I'm experiencing.
2 The T40 relies on concealment and cover to be effective. The revised graphics mean that it's nearly impossible to see anything out of a bush/tree unless one is so far forward it negates the cover. Also what genius chose a light green reticle when the majority of cover is also light green.
3 My speed has mysteriously slowed by just enough to get me killed.
4 The revised maps have modified all my favourite ambush spots. .
