Well it could not do 5 shots immunity for 167 and 175 avg at all for us. On official forums I saw results for 7/10 penetrations for 160 avg against the LFP at 100 meters. Odd enough.
BTW, right now I’m unsure about the actual UFP thickness and slope. It might be just 120mm with higher slope than 61 degree from vertical (from russian forums), or 140mm, but with increased slope compensation for 7.3.
I know about the sites selling such information above tier8, I prefer hands on research instead. Anyway, our might be less professional, but it’s free
. :)
I have heard this from many RU server players. (in example: from people like Foton)
Can anyone verify this please? Charcharo? Or did they improve it to 140mm at the second phase?

Im personally OK with the tank now if it it has FUP 140mm with 61 degree slope and FSH 160mm instead of old 140mm.

But that is for ST-I.

The whole confusion came from, that some time ago, before 7.0 introduction Overlord said something about 6 degree slope compensation , whereas Serb (or Storm? I never know) hinted several weeks ago, that it is still at least 8 actually. That is why, we thought the ST-I glacis is less than 140mm first.

Guys, I have one problem. I read all details about patch news (including those news about IS-4 stuff) but I'm not sure what should I do now. I have unlocked and upgraded everything except V-12 engine and S-70 gun. I have like 24.000 xp left on IS-4. Does it mean, I'll get V-12 engine after patch without having to unlock it now? And I won't probably be able to unlock S-70 til patch comes out but what would be smartest to do? I read all undistributed xp will be transferred on IS-8.

122mm M62-T2

RoF: 5
Penetration: 278/400/68

Little typo there ^^ But other then that thanks for another great tank guide :)

Bit surprise so many choose vent instead of spall liner So many small tanks use HE and not to talk about arty :) So for me it is spall liner, stab and ram. used it when it was T9 and will have the same when it is T10.

Only upgrade you will be able to do on IS-4 is the gun so yes you will have the V 12 engine but IS-8 use V-12-6 engine so that one should not be unlocked for you.
Your exp will be moved to IS-8 but you can tell WG to move it back to IS-4 if you want but smartest thing would be to grind the M62 gun on IS-8 and just keep your IS-4 in garage until you got the gun.

It would help most people a lot if someone made a graphical presentation on exactly how you should angle this tank. The backwards sidescraper.(if thats when you hide your front and back up just enough to show your gun) helped me incredibly much when I had a confrontation with a Jagdtiger yesterday. He simply couldnt penetrate me! :Smile_great:

I'm not a great drawer as you can see but that look like this and work fine.

There is a weak spot in this position (FSH on the picture of master post) but if you move forward-backward in this position there is less chance they aim it. Everything bounce in this position. Obj. 704 bounce too. With some experience you can use this trick into a 1vs1 without a house or something other to cover your front.

P.S.: Work with E-75 too and some other tanks with good side armor as the incoming KV-4 unkillable in this position ;)

Replay: Not my best but my IS-4 is stock +BL9. The only damage i take it's because i moved too late (track break and no repair skills at this time) and JT shoot the FSH weakness.

I have used Vent so far but I will see how I will do now that it becomes a tier X. I do not really suffer from arty or HE as a tier 9. The tank is fast enough to get in to arty shadow most of the time.

It's perfect! Seems I got it right then, but hopefully this is something that will circulate the forums. I've seen way too many IS-4's exposing their full frontal armor in confrontations.

About the IS-4s new canon.
I just think that the accuracy is quite inconsistent?

If I compare with S70n and German 128mm. It feels like these are a lot more reliable.
To get a good straight shot you need to wait a little longer than I'm used to dealing with S70n and 128mm.
About 2-3 seconds after the circle is "closed" before you can shoot a straight shot.

With S70 and 128mm usually 1sec is enough.
Correct me if I am wrong .. may just have discarded ping today, I do not know.

How about you grind it on the IS-8 with the BL-9 and spare you self the embarrassment of driving a tier 10 with 175 penetration? Not the mention you f*ck up your every team by giving them -1 tier 10 tank

The Historical IS-4 had 40-43km/h max speed on asphalt or on good roads, but when it went off-road its speed drops to max 15-20km/h. Your post is not very objective, you do not take into account even acceleration and mobility. First ever Main Battle Tank or MBT, was the Soviet T-64. IS-4 always had the 122mm D-25T gun and the 122mm M62-T2 gun was fitted only into the 1957 model T-10M (final modernization version of IS-8).

I just love it even more now, its a genius tank because of the heavy side armour, and i had it maxed out so all the sudden i had a tier X, and a IS 8 with a 100% crew. win win lucky little me hehe
