KV-1S

seriously does anybody else have issues with the 122mm long gun, for a gun that has 175mm penetration i bounce off everything!! its getting beyond a joke, and you cant snipe with it due to the accuracy and cost of ammo. so has anybody got any tips on how to make this grind, less of a grind!

i have better games with my PzIV against teir 8's than i do with my KV-1s

It has 175mm avg. penetration. Besides you always use the 85mm guns if you like. As always aim for weakpoints is key here.

Shoot only when full-aimed, this is the only weakness of this awesome tier 6 cannon.

As suggested earlier, wait until your fully aimed, this will both increase your accuracy and your penetration.

Also try not to shoot on the move, if you see a target, stop, aim, shoot, then move on. This will also help with your penetration and accuracy.

im generally standing still when i shoot anyway, but it just seems to bounce. it kind of makes it not worth using, as i cant be bothered paying 1000 credits just to bounce

Where normally do you tend to hit tanks? It might be worth researching the weaks spots on some of the tanks. It always helps knowing where your enemies weak spots are, that way your practically guarenteed penetration and high damage!

I generally try to avoid hitting tanks in their frontal armour, as normally this is where most tanks armour is the thickest, hence little or no penetration. However this rule doesnt work for all tanks! Always take the opportunity to hit one up the ass or on its side armour!

KV-1S has to be in the enemies face to hit properly (same as IS). There's no other option really.

There is no way you can use a KV-1S the same way as a PzIV.
With KV-1S If you’re shooting at tanks further then 100-150 meters away you better be sure that you’re shooting at their flanks as it presents the largest target to hit. You also need to be sure that the side of that tank you’re aiming at is penetratable pretty much anywhere you hit.

Frontally I shoot just tanks which can be penetrated anywhere.
If they can’t then they need to be closer than 50 meters (you will miss otherwise) or even closer depending on the size of the weak spot you need to aim at.

As a rule you should try to flank and shoot from as close as you can afford to. If you're to far to effectively hit a tank (like a KV-5 for example) then let it get closer or get closer yourself so you can hit what you're aiming for (the left small turret in KV-5 example).

When I see KV1S armed with 85mm I feel sudden urge to make team kill. 85mm is not worthless for KV1S. Worst, it can fool you teammates that they actually have tank in some critical area, until they have one big helpless target at same time.
KV1S has 2 cannons worth mention. D2-5 as top gun and U11 derp until player grind top gun. Both has excellent capabilities and make KV1S very dangerous opponent even against high tier enemies.
