What tanks left you wondering what to thin...

Legault's Photo Legault 22 May 2012

Especially tanks that are loved/hated by the community. I see all these threads hating on certain tanks or saying how amazing they are, when I have a completely different opinion on them.

Some of mine...

M3 Lee - Haven't had a whole lot of problems with this one. It actually has a great gun and you don't seem to get thrown in with tier 8 heavies that oneshot you like in beta. Not a great tank, but it has it's niche and it's great when high on the list.

M4 Sherman - I personally hate this tank. People love it for some reason, but matchmaking treats it horribly, it's big, it doesn't have good armor, it's not fast, it's firepower is like rolling a dice when using the derp gun. I currently run a 92% crew on it and even gave it a rammer/vents/camo net to try and make something of it. Outside of the rare oneshotting of other tanks it feels terrible.

AMX13 75 - I don't know much about this tank pre-nerf or whatever happened to it, but matchmaking treats this tank terribly. Your pathetic 6-round revolver has okay burst potential, but it's still 135*6 damage, which doesn't kill anything that's tier 7+ and hardly anything that's tier 6, especially if you miss/bounce a shot. And tier 7-10 is what you see in most of the matches. My stats say otherwise, but I don't enjoy this tank much. Have everything but the radio, 94% crew, Optics/Vents/Binocs or Camo net. Haven't played it much yet, but not really sure I want to.

Tiger - I love this thing. Great gun for it's tier, it's armor is decent, and if it's at the bottom of the list it supports well with good penetration and accuracy. If you angle the hull, it bounces plenty of shots without having a stupidly huge weak spot like the Tiger II's lower hull, which allows anything to shoot through the front regardless of how you angle the tank. I've played about as much battles in my Tiger as my Tiger II, but my Tiger has a lot more medals just because it has better matchmaking and is better against vehicles of the same tier. I can't imagine why people think this is the worst tier 7 heavy.

Tiger II - Read above... just feels like a weak tank for it's tier. You have to aim carefully while everything shoots through your lower plate. It's slow. Matchmaking isn't even remotely good. Has a hard time penetrating a lot of tier 9-10 frontally, so support options are terrible (where the Tiger shoots through tier 8 just fine, and not penetrating 9-10 is okay in a tier 7). If I wanted to shoot HE shells I'd drive another tank. And god forbid you're the top tank, because it probably means you're going to have to take down their IS-3 or Lowe, which do hull down better. And you don't win anything related to open field or mobility, that's for sure.

binocs and vents doesn't stack.
Also when playing with the amx I tend to run around like a lunatic an help wherever I can, maybe solo half/low hp targets. And when I get on maps with great ninja scouting in the bush,I tanke the chance with binocs/camo/vents.
Hmm,now for tanks that I do not understand,
The m26 pershing,I don't se it have an advantage over his counterparts.
Other than that, the german jagdpanzer 4,wich is preety rubbish, and the jagdpanther.I know german enthusiast will hate me but,I frove the su-152 before it and it shoots faster and harded, just like I assume a td has to do.I am not sayng that the jagdpanther is a bad tank,I actually enjoy it a little.

I loved the Kv13,its a good earner, however its started to be ranked in with the big boys, so tends to be one
shot killed now, pity! also T54 rubbish as a points earner as on the top gun, shells cost more than you earn, you have to kill at least 3 tanks to break even.E50 the same as T54 but 105 great gun and on a good day this tank alone has caused me to lose matches, have researched it but cannot afford to play it yet.

the BDR G1B, i know i know. so i got it and i hated it, once i unlocked the 90mm it seemed bearable for the grind to the ARL, but then the stock gun and turret on the ARL were so bad that i was left wanting my BDR back, i've moved on since then but my first experiences in the ARL mean i have a hard time thinking badly about the BDR. to edit an overused quote yet again:
if you don't miss the BDR you have no heart
if you want it back you have no brain

The Slugger. Usually I like or don't like a tank, but this one I don't know. Good gun but otherwise pretty non descript. Not really fun but fairly effective so hard to dislike. Meh.

About the AMX 13 75... I'm not sure about it either. I just got used to it before I went to the 13 90, which is soo much better. The 13 75 isn't bad, but matches finish too quickly when you play it, it's just a blur...

nope, it doesn't have an advantage to tier 8 meds, but from my point of view ( pershing fanatic ) it does outrank them. the only tier 8 i have problems with is the french  lorraine, for obvious reasons, but i did manage to destroy in one-on-one encounters at least 3 from what i remember, full hp both tanks ( mine and the lorraines ). other tier 8s... in a face-off, never lost. i don't know why, but it's a wonderful machine, at least in the game :)... sorry, off topic, i just love that tank :D
on topic, worst tank: t-34-85. it's the reason i stopped playing russian med line. it was unbearable to grind, being just a t-34 with a better gun ( last gun at least ). after a few battles, i lost it and selled that tank. and second on my list is the m3 lee...  another frustrating grind... the only way i managed to play it was imagining that it's not a medium, but more like a TD. a medium should be versatile... that tank isn't...

Tiger II is a great tank in the right hands, got 64% win with it when I recall right. Maybe you didn't angle it right? Also it helps to drive a little forward and backward when you await the enemy to shoot you, then many shots will bounce. It's gun is incredibly accurate so you can make up for it's low penetration by hitting weak spots very reliable.

When I drove B1 to grind for BDR it was an absolute lousy tank. It's ass is better armored than it's turret front and I had no fun at all playing it. But in the end when I was just about to get the BDR I managed to get a Top Gun with this tank, that really surprised me.

Slugger - One of my most enjoyable grinds, especially after Wolwerine. It has a decent gun, HP poll is good(meaning you wont get one-shooted often), it has nice speed, acceleration... And at first i wasnt hoping it will be that good.

T-34 - WOW. WOW. WOW. Tier 5 medium that can cause troubles to tier 8 heavies... With its 56mm gun that can pierce through sides of most tanks and rears of all tanks and with a reload speed of 1.96 seconds when crew is at 100% and you have a rammer... Its swift, agile, nimble, can even bounce some shoots... Wasnt expecting that from a tier 5 medium tank, but when the two of us clicked(meaning i learnt to circle other tanks and crew got maxed out)i really fell in love for this tank.

Hetzer - With the 10.5cm gun, and(by my opinion)one of the best camo ratings in game... A nightmare for everything below tier 5. Really surprised how it mutates from a slow POS into a decent TD.

Tetrarch- It just awesome(especially for a gift from WG :Smile-hiding: )... If there just wasnt those PzIIs and their damned autoguns :Smile_blinky: ...

T-43. Good all-rounder, but never actually convinces you to keep it...

T-28, is like a bus, specially at the start. Its armour is paper. But improved, with neither the 57mm or the 85m, it becomes a beast. I got a 59% victory rate and several +6 killed battles. Also the bus climb pretty fast, it always run at 40 kmh, even in mountains, something very good to maneuver.

Lolwut? What tier 8 tanks penetrate tier 9-10 tanks with ease, aside from arty and TDs? Even my 240 pen T34 boomstick can fall flat against an E-75 (yes with clean shots to the lower plate :Smile_sceptic: )
An elite Tiger II is strong, agile, fast and packing a very good gun. I recently had a top tier game with 5 kills and everything beneath me just bounced off. T29, M6, Tiger P, Panther II, Jagdpanther, T-150, no one hurt me. The only tank that managed to chip some 50hp off me was a VK3601, lol.

So yeah you have a completely different opinion than me at least :Smile_veryhappy:

KV-13, still in confusion, solved it by moving on to IS....long time ago. Now that I am reminding I am clueless once again.
