I hate the whining about gold ammo. Too many players think they can go for a free ride and be competitive. FFS.

If you wanted to play for say a football team, you'd at least have to buy boots wouldn't you? Can't imagine Spain would have won the EC without football boots on.

Dont forget they need to be gold:P

But on the issue depends what you mean by saying competitive.
If you mean clan wars, you can either go for some poor gold lands to get some gold so you can then attack better (gold income  vise) provinces.

Very skilled players can beat mid/mid+ skilled clans in CW without using gold. So if you struggle to get some lands in for example Africa you basically  dont have enough skill to play competitive yet.

If you talk about ESL again you dont need to buy gold to win 1st prize at beginning of your team. I would say if  you are casual competitive team go slow; earn 3-4th place get little bit of money/gold  then go higher. But if you wanna go full hardcore competitive you will have to get gold somehow(events/CW/real money) to compete on top lvl.

In the ESL the only t8 tank used is a t32.
I'm curious, is there a preferred skill selection for the T32 for ESL?

Repair is a no-brainer for randoms, but how are top ESL players filling the  skills, and which equipment combo are they using?

Of course your opponent and the level you wish to reach really determines whether gold is required or not. For instance T8 tanks really don't need gold to penetrate other T8 tanks .

It can give you a small advantage depending on the situation alright, but its most significant use is top tier fights, and even then you can get by without using it once you know where to aim etc

i.e we took a province last week against the land owner, with a mashed up team of t10 heavy's / tier 9's / Tier 9 TD's and we didn't use gold. We won 15-1 iirc so skill level definitely counts a lot more than gold usage.

Its the mind set that gold ammo = insta win that really annoys me I suppose!

6th sense
camo(depends on map/tank/role [ for example close scouting t1 in bush])
BIA(extra ventilation )
crit chance is not bad(tho there are much more important skills)

Thanks for taking the time to answer, but you didn't really answer my question, so I will try to re-word it, and give it some context.

I have more tanks than I can double, and my T32 hasn't been out for a spin in a while (so long in fact that the crew skills are unselected since the skill reset) - I took it out for a couple of games on the test server and thought I really should play this bad boy rather than leaving it gathering dust.

There are quite a lot of potential skill permutations, so rather than theory craft a build myself, I'm really interested to find out how the best WOT players are choosing to build the crew skillset on the T32 for competitive play - hopefully I can get some answers while the test server is still up, and if there are differing opinions I can test them out for myself before commiting on the live server. I would love to get back to competitive play (my last 7vs7 competition was the Drill Field Workout) so preparing my T32 crew would be a good idea.

With respect to the T32 specifically, which crew skills/perks are the pro-ESL players picking (in order of priority)?

First 6th sense, rest repair.
2nd full Bia,
3rd: gunner driver get stuff that gives more acc or better aim time.
loader safe storage, rest firefighting.

The firefighting can be exchanged with other sutff if you take a fire ext with you.
I prefer medkid, repair and chocklate.
