Planning To Run An Offline (LAN) Event?

Bump's Photo Bump 29 May 2012

Hello budding tournament planners!

We want to help you in any way we can, and if you are planning to run any competitive LAN events we have created a form that you can use to inform us about it and potentially request prizes.

To do this, simply fill in the requested fields to the best of your ability and either PM the filled in form to myself (In English) or to your language speaking Community Manager (In the language you are comfortable with) and they will pass it on to me (it is likely someone will then contact you about any further info)

Support from us will largely depend on the number of players you are expecting and size of the event, but could range from a simple forum announcement in your language forum, all the way  up to Wargaming.net presence at the event itself or large gold prize allocations.

So here is what we would like from you :)

Title of event

Ingame name of Organizer (Individual ID)

Price of the event (associated prize chart)

Brief description of the event

Location of event – Including basic instructions on getting there + map

Instructions for teams on how to sign up (e.g. web page link or email)

Maximum number of teams desired

Link to rules or description of rules
  • Rules must include team size, tier restrictions, single elimination, double elimination or brackets, gold payout*
  • Recommendations:
-   If enough computers are available, brackets is the best, with 3 points for win, 1 point for tie, 0 for loss as all players remain engaged through all the event.

-   Double elimination is better than single elimination, because players get more opportunity to play.

-   Important rules include; Tier cap, Total tier points,Process for verifying results, Number of games per round and time limit for games.

Any other limitations must be stated now or will be considered a breach of the application

Rules from us:
  • No player may be in more than 1 team during the same event
  • Each team can register more players than the minimum required and rotate their registered players registered for each game
  • Organiser’s must be impartial and therefore cannot play in any team participating
  • Application for event must be sent no less than 1 month before the event itself and posted  on… our forums? Special facebook page using event function? Custom made registration web page?
  • Organisers are allowed to charge money for their event from registering players. At least 25% of the charged price must be redistributed as prizes to the participating players based on final results and a pre established prize chart communicated to each player
  • Event must be able to accommodate at least 20 participants and 4 separate teams.
  • Each player must register at the event by signing the organisers form
  • Results and any pictures must be emailed to us within 1 week of the close of the tournament with a  list of winners and pictures of the participants
Please remember that complaints or reports about the event must first go to the organiser and that this is a temporary form that should soon be replaced by a permanent version.

I'm afraid its just an industry term for a LAN, that's why I added the LAN part along with it sorry if its a little confusing.

Or, in other words :

You will have to play online on your accounts, but since participants actually play at the same place and not from home, it is called "offline" or LAN event :)
So, if you want to do such a thing, better have a really good internet connection ^^

hi mate! im running at the moment a contest between my clan and 2 of my allies, aprox. 70 members, and rising.everyone is playing from his place,so it's not a really "offline" contest. It is similar with ESL 1vs1 contest, only that we play 2vs 2,tier 8,3 matches, the best from those 3 will go further. The idea is we want to give some gold to winners,or those premium packages, with a low tier premium tank,1 slot and 200-300 gold, something like that, because to give to every player 2500 gold is quite challenging for my pockets.Any advice about what i need to do to get some affordable packages for my competition?
Thank you very much,
cccpblitz

To qualify for gold it would really need to be a competition that anyone can sign up to, and not be specific to certain clans or teams. However if you want to PM me with all of the details i can definitely take a look into it for you :) Maybe we can look at a way to have other teams sign up ? :)

Hallo.
Two weeks ago i wrote to WG paris office to get info to realize an Event in Modena (Italy) during PLAY (www.play-modena.it).
It's the italian Game Festival, where u can paly any kind of game, from cards to tridimensional, to historical, to softair, roleplaying game, live session and so on.
And we have a videogame area, which i'm the Manager.

I would like to get WoT tournament.
And i'll probably will get ProGaming.net as partner for this.

Well, could you please make in contact whit someone to discuss, design and prepare?

Thanks a lot for your attention.

Hi Bump.
This evening i have a meeting with the PLAY staff.
Me and my colleagues are going to define the main events for the 2013 edition.
I have white paper (in italian means that i can develop as i want) for the event.
Planning with the collaboration of ProGaming there should be a great opportunity to do well.

So, we are going to push this wheel and activating all the necessary activities.

Ok, stay tuned.
