Sure add a map filter. Then I can filter all maps except mines and queue in my platoon of bat chats, then wait as long as it takes to finally play mines with 30 mediums. Then I think i'll queue Malinovka on my Arty, and play with 30 other arty.

You can't let players choose the map and the tank they play on. The filter is just asking for trouble

1000x this.

Some people will just whine no matter what WG does.
About Dragon Ridge...maybe they should do the same as with Province. Only low tier battles.

I hated both maps with a passion, and I'm not sad to see them go. However, I don't see why they couldn't implement a filter. It would obviously keep more customers happy, so why not? The filter should be limited to 3-4 maps to ensure it couldn't be abused (mmm... Maus in Himmelsdorf), and perhaps limited by amount of times you can change the setting within a certain period of time (ok... playing arty now... cross off Ensk, Himmelsdorf and Siegfried Line).

Maybe the reason why they haven't implemented this has to do with how the MM functions? Perhaps it picks the players first and then chooses a map by random (instead of choosing the map first).

Effectively making a game worse and less interesting by removing content is not the smartes move to be honest. A filter would be 10 times better.

It's exactly why the concept overall is a bad idea.

If you can't handle a rotation of 20 something maps of which you don't like 3.  Well boo hoo for you.

Why is it a bad idea? Works pretty well in a game called "Starcraft 2". It's a pretty small indie game, so you may not have heard of it.

Yeah, or maybe allow people like you, who dislike the map, to choose not to play it? I don't mind if some perverts want to play Komarin, but I do mind having to play it myself. If the limit of filtered maps was set low enough, it would not mess with the matchmaking either.

The idea is not to let people choose to play the maps the love, but to let them choose to not play the maps they like the least.

I think that these 5 (Dragon Ridge, Swamp, Province, Komarin, Ensk) maps are best suited for both TC and tier 3-4 max.

All maps are kinda okay BUT REMOVE MF DRAGON RIDGE!!

I'm with you on this man. This map is far worse than Komarin and with the "red screen" bug always taking place there for me...

I'd love a map filter but some maps would just end up not being played anymore o\

C'mon guys, adding a filter means complicated programming for WG and as we know, they much prefer GUI tweaks and modelling new tanks.  Much less hard work.

After all, it's only taken them what, 2 years to add new game modes.

Filter would be good. As long as you can only exclude 3 or so maps, I can't see how it would cause problems. Another thing I would like to see is restriction of certain maps so you don't get then with arty. Getting himmelsdorf, ensk, ruinberg, himmelsdorf again, siegfried line, ensk.... in my hummel was what made me stop playing arty for a while.

+1 for filter.

It would also be a good indicator for WG for which maps are least popular.

I think most of the maps in WoT are kinda ... fail. Some simply more then others.

Not always because of the layout of the maps. there is a bit of diffrence here. But when ever they come up with a "decent" map it gets ruined by the fact that it is WAY TO SMALL.

Since the first day WoT saw players, they asked for "bigger" maps.

Nothing happened so far. Which is sad. We have tanks. Weapons made for "movement". Yet quite often you are forced to "camp" because there is no way to get around the enemy, thx to artifical "map borders" telling youwhere to go and where to stop. Thats really sad. I am not saying make the maps super large. But bigger then now cant be a problem. Double the size. At least for SOME maps. To get more diversity.

The issue with bigger maps is the limited view range of 707 meters due to engine limitations (http://wiki.worldoft...nics#Visibility). if they manage to fix that issue, then there would be a point in making bigger maps.

Your first question doesn't have a none of the above or other option and the two you give assume that people want those maps removing.

I don't want them removing and I don't want a filter therefore I cannot vote.

Try DougHole's thread on the same subject, the poll there is much better.

by example most players would filter komarin swamp and campernova, arti would filter all city maps(maybe 1 can only filter 3 but other teammate could filter another 3, and a full platoon could filter 9) so you would end always in the no man's land of the wot maps

Filter.

It's just strange releasing a game like this without such a basic feature. :Smile_amazed:

sure but WG actually has a point here
imagine everybody is going to choose a map which provides his tank the biggest advantage. We'll experience extreme tank&class stacking. One map full of TD another full of heavies and so on.that's first.
second point: players who enjoy unpopular maps like malinovka will have to wait longer and balance will be even more screwed up on those maps. imagine arty party getting together on vast maps and no arty on himmelsdorf. Game will be even more unplayable

My solution: do not delete anything and allow players to exclude max 3 maps.
