Build a Tank Model Contest: Results

Disclaimer: Yes, I am a sore loser.
First off, congratulations to the winners, some really great models were built, hats off. The judging must have been hard indeed.
One thing I find surprising though is that none of the Lego models (I used Lego too) made it to the top. Using a 1000+ small pieces in predefined (for other purposes) shapes to create something resembling a real object can be a lot harder than building or molding all the elements although to make these undoubtedly takes a lot of time and skill.
The human tank and the fruit tank (I lold) are excellent ideas and do deserve honorable mentions with some sort of prize but should not be put up with other creations that were a whole lot more than just a cool idea. It took me about a week of almost sleepless nights to get mine to move and fire as I have planned.
To the guy who built the model out of matches: I was sure it was a top contender.

Congrats to the winners, BUT
in my mind place two should be the winner. The model he made is much more detailed and close the the real tank than the winning one.
But as we all now, it's not a russian tank ;-)
Second, how could someone achieve the 5th place by using a model kit?
Damn, this is not creativity, this is ... (shouldn't tell my thoughts loud, might insult the Judges)

I must agree with you. And btw, did you WG judge the video or only the tank?
Just use rectangular pieces to build a full working tank WG, you won't find it so easy...

Well guys, what do you want?
It was fun and we had a chance to win stuff (and you can't always win).
Congratulations to the winners!
Had a good time watching lots of videos
Cheers,
Quantentunnel
PS:
Please only judge making very good plastic models if you have ever tried it yourself.

Next time instead of spending 45 hours to make a pz IV from pizza package cardboard I'll just get a 40€ model and put it together, it seem to be the way to win around here
. Anyway thats the last time I bother entering one of the contest, some of the winner selection is very strange to say the least ...
Temperufka your T29 is awsome tho, great job m8.

Then I can legitimately judge - because I have glued and painted plastic models and also made architectural models from papaper and plastic. And my judgement is - makeing every detail yourself and then gluing and painting is far more difficut, deserving and creative.
Only thing I say is: Making high-class models requires quite some skill and shouldn't be underrated ;)
I was very pleased about the amount of creativity and scratchbuilt models (from whatever)...
Most of us did great work here, some were more lucky than others...

I agree: Temperufka should win and Bryghtblade should be the second... or maybe inversely. I wish to see 1/2 PzIV running by its own motion.

Very good job for the Human Tank. I laughed so hard and liked the idea and the actor's play (the Human Tank). I am very glad that you got into the winners list.

Very hardcore competition, with so much good participants. I was never hoping even for the last 26st place. But I got to 17th. Thanks WG EU community, thanks to all participants in this nice contest!
I try clay for the first time in my life. It was a bit hardcore for me - the polymer clay melts like hot chewing gum, and I dont have technics for doing it better (for now).

I can't believe Temperufka with his T-29 didn't get the first place. The amount of work he put into this, attention to details and the final result is simply stunning. Temperufka is the winner for me.

Any prize for best video of a burning model ?
Bryghtblade shouldnt even been in the comp. his model was built well before the compitition was even announced and he just stuck his name on a piece of cardboard to join. . The competition was Build a Tank model, Not show your tank models that you built over the last few years.
Well done to Xoliul although i think Diotors effort should have taken it for originality (with me second, but im biased)

I'd like to say that i don't understand how the judgement did work. Everyone is good in buying models!
And they even submitted it after the end...
Well, i am a bit disappointed.
And the human tank.... is just a big joke to all of us.
Some tanks are nice, but others aren't at all.

Hi,
Thanks for the post. Buying ready models is indeed quite easy but buying a model from a kit and then building it from scratch requires a lot of hard work.
You need to make sure you follow the sequence of the assembly not skipping any single detail. About the judging process - this time we encouraged the entire WoT staff to go through the submissions and vote for the best.
All models were great - thank you once again for all your hard work and effort!
