Match making tank rank imbalance...

Hey guys, first post here.
I've been playing World of Tanks for a few days now and I've really enjoyed it... however, I'm beginning to notice a problem now I have a better tank.
For some reason matchmaking is putting me in games with most of the players as rank V tanks... I'm only a rank III ! Is this normal, and it so- why? I can't kill a single tanks I just get wiped out. Plus I'm the lowest ranked tank in all games I go in.
There's another problem too - it does the same thing when in a platoon with a rank II tank with me. It puts us both in a game with rank V tanks.
What's the meaning of this?

First of all Welcome to the mose addictive tank game there is.
As for the MM system get used to it its spose to be 3 lvls above/below but if you in ur T5 you could (will) end up against T9/10.

Hi there and welcome to the forums!
And yes it's normal that MM puts you in battles where are other tanks 2 or 3 tiers above you. I was on your opinion when I started to play but trust me if you learn how to flank high tier tanks so you can hit the weak spots and also try to hunt down other tanks in your tier class it becomes quite fun. Good luck!

Grrrr I don't understand, Why do I not get to match T1 then? It's always T5... Seems funny the T5 always are at the top.

welcome,
this is a team game, you cant be rambo here, even if you get a tier 10 tank.
always flank the enemy, and support your big tanks, then it doesnt matter what tier you are.
i mean even tier 8 tanks have about 80-100 side armor on the back even lower, a tier 5 tank has 120+ penetretion, dont see any problem
in your situation i guess you have about 40-50 penetration most of your enemies have less then that side armor even lower on the back. and about the big tier 5 tanks just dont engage them if you re not experienced enough yet.

You'll almost always end up being lower tier in battles. Get used to it or stick with T2 tanks. WoT isn't a fair game.

You might want to read the game's wiki entry on matchmaking, here:
http://wiki.worldoft...ics#Matchmaking
Most importantly, it has a chart which shows which tiers of heavy tanks, mediums, lights, TDs and SPGs can end up in the same battle. This will explain why you end up fighting who you do.
As you can see, a Tier 3 medium can appear in battles ranging from ones where you are the top tank (other tanks are Tier 2 and 3) to where there are Tier 5 heavies present. (You won't encounter Tier 1s - they only fight Tier 1s and 2s).
Even if you are the bottom tank, you can always do something. As someone else said, don't engage Tier 5 heavies head-on, flank them and hit them from the side and rear. Another important role for lower-tier tanks is scouting.
