Meteorite rain on Steppes?

BanzaiBonsai's Photo BanzaiBonsai 22 Jun 2012

Where did this giant rock appear from?

Posted Image

I was happyly sniping like this before, now my view is blocked by this unsightly thing...

I first encountered this rock when I was in an Encounter battle, I guess it was made for that same reason (so you can defend base easier from that side).

I guess now I'll just have to track the noobs before they reach the cover... steppes isn't an open map anymore..

Not an open map anymore with one rock ?

There is really reason to complain about eveything down there...

They just happen to have put a rock right in the worst possible place...

Well, that side was completly open before, no chance to hide from arty. I guess it's for the better to put a new rock there. More noobs being drawn to that awesome new cover, even in games with lots of artys (there will be a lot of them soon).

Still, imagine the shock of driving around in a familiar area and then you notice a HUGE MEOTEORITE IMPACT just crushed EVERYTHING there...
You can't imagine the tears that build up in the very second I saw this, before I could even think rationally about it.

They couldnt position it in worse place... Other base was at disadvantage because of that little hill, but it was nice farming heavies passing there with their squishy sides...

I drove straight into that damn rock, Wife sniggering over my shoulder, "but honey it was not there yesterday." She doesn't believe me, think I used the same line when I ran over the post box and the dog.

Haven't tried it yet, but it looks like a well placed rock to me.

LOL had a shock like that today as well yes.........

As you say it might be necessary for encounter to work, but for normal battle it's quite bad. I loved that side with all my mediums and/or american tanks, the best place to exploit mobility and/or gun depression... and now it's quite ruined.

Could have different version of the map for encounter and normal battle instead.

They should add more rocks to Steppes, too open map. :)

It already has long sniping distances (longest in game?) so few rocks there and there won't ruin my game.

Where is the ancient aliens meme guy when you need it...

But on topic.. Rock was there since 7.3, been seeing some scouts using it as cover

Extremely funny... either you are blind, haven't played the game much or you just trolling.

Since he's a mod I don't think he's trolling?
Anyway, if you take a good look at my pictures you can even see the rock cDa meant on the second one, on the left side. That Rock has been there for as long as I can remember and scouts fail behind it regularly..
But the one I mean is new, too bad I don't have a pre 7.4 screenshot of that position.

Replay uses the 0.7.4 files because the old ones were overwritten, so even a 0.7.3 replay shows the rock. Just checked one where I was sniping from that position, shooting trough that giant meteorite that actually wasn't there in 0.7.3.

Why you doublepost D:

Must've been a no arty game, otherwise it would have died in a flash.
