So many ducks: Renault FT AC matchmaking (...

Playing in my Leichttraktor yesterday I was struck by the number of Renault FT ACs, the new French Tier 2 TD, in each battle. In an average Tier 2 battle about 16-18 of the tanks were Renault FT ACs. I put it down to being a new tank, so a lot of people are playing them.
Then I thought: hold on, what are Tier 2 TDs doing fighting Tier 1 tanks. As per the matchmaking chart, Tier 1s shouldn't be meeting TDs (or SPGs) at all. Had the matchmaking chart changed? But I wasn't meeting Panzer Jager Is or AT-1s.
I just looked at the matchmaking chart in the Wiki again (http://wiki.worldoft...makingChart.png). Turns out the Renault TD gets special matchmaking. While Tier 2 TDs in general appear in Battle Tiers 3-5, the Renault appears in Battle Tiers 2-3.
I am not complaining about this though. The Renaults are not overpowering vs Tier 1 tanks, and as far as the number of them in each battle goes, that's just a function of the number of players using them. Might actually be a good thing, as it means the numbers available for Tier 1/2 battles are higher, which means I get a battle quicker, especially late at night.

Seeing lots of same type of tanks is normal when something new shows up, like the new French TDs & SPGs, had many games with about 23/30 French TDs in low tier games.
Things will normalize in 1 week, i hope...

Interesting - I didn't notice that I engaged T1-tanks in the Renault yesterday. But the 47mm-gun felt really powerful ;-)

Same with the Renault BS arty, they're appearing in tier 2 games as well.

Be happy that you are not encoutering many people who actually know how to drive low tiers. Renault FT AC has 25mm autocannon that can shred many tier III tanks with ease. LT is a laugh for it.

Dont worry its just some kind of "excitation syndrome"
it will pass very soon. Actually during night, when older and as i suppose more experienced players are playing, i seen only few new french vehicles, even had match where my RC TD (57UE) was single frenchie. Other thing is that those low tiers i personally see rather "meh", both of them - arties and td's, so many people can give up even faster after trying couple battles.

I tried that gun last night and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it (75% gunner skill). You can fire 10 (or 12? I wasn't counting) shots in quick succession, but I couldn't hit a tank at 200m with any of them, even waiting for the reticule to shrink to its smallest.

Its really hard to pen from the front with anything less than 40mm too. Was having a brawl with one in my 35f. Spent ages bouncing off the front, and him missing. Was quite comical until i switched to HE and stung him to death,

10 shots in 2-shell bursts. The trick is to fire the burst and wait a bit until aim circle gets smaller. And get as close as possible. It can give a nasty surprise e.g. to T-127 or AMX 38 - even its great armor does not protect it.
Generally, autocannons are tricky to play, but can be extremely effective. For common John Doe, there is of course the 47mm cannon with really great accuracy (for its tier).
And I just read on Wiki that Renault FT AC is the only tier II TD (ar any TD for that matter) that is included in Tier II battles (that may explain why Leichttractors encounter it on a regular basis).

Must be just bad luck.....I got a couple, each in 2 shots, with a 37mm from 400+ yds. At the clanchat we were talking about how much they look and die like a Bison (the SPG, not the animal

It's a funny looking little thing too. I remember one fun filled chat as our friendly Renault FT AC begged to be team killed while everyone else just laughed and pointed.

Fact is that they have OP gun for that tier (if they have special treatment in battle MM) and now balance is turned upside down. Drivers of tanks like 38H735 may forget the games with 2+ frags.
