Pz.Sfl.IVb - A new Tier 5 TD for Germans

Sotahullu's Photo Sotahullu 02 Jul 2012

Okay, so we lost Dicker Max (damn you WG!!!) so instead we get the Pz.Sfl.IVb

And whats that then, you may ask? Well it's known as Heuschrecke 10

Basicly, an 105mm gun on fully rotating turret and I can imagine that it would mount 75L70 gun easily.

Ha!
That was in my 3rd TD line proposal...

this is not a TD ..

that's the best they can come up with ..
They should better make this vehicle a premium tank and put the DM back in

I'd at least want the short 88 there or the 15cm SIG33...

No, the OP is right; Pz.Sfl.IVb is what he posted. But it's not a TD; it's a SPG with a rotating turret.

Your link is the Pz.Sfl.IVc. The one we are getting in the second TD line. A carrier for the FlaK37 and FlaK41 guns.

The key question is can I drop the turret off in the middle of a bush? :Smile_veryhappy:

That was the point of all those mcgubbins on the side, the proposal was that the turret could be dropped on a pre-prepared casement and left as a bunker. Imagine if the defender bases in assault sprouted holes beside the cap zones for the turret....

Open top does not equal SPG and historically this is likely the only turreted configuration that could have carried anything heavier than the 75L48.
Although this tank is a closer case for SPG than STUIG I can accept it into the TD tree as it's quite viable for direct fire engagements, hence we could apply WG usual upgunning, although I would have it as started of an assault gun line than a waffentrager one...

It's an SPG though. With all the limitations an SPG brings. Assault guns are not the same thing.
For one it can't depress its gun below 0°.

I'd like to see some source about the inability to depress its gun, especially as there were plans to upgrade the design with a 150mm gun.

That is also in line with WG's intepretation of German tanks *yes Pz 5/4, I am looking at you".

I don't see how a planned up-gunning would change the fact that SPG's don't need to be able to aim below the horizon.

As for the source: Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War Two by Peter Chamberlain and Hilary Doyle

Some SPGs in game are able to perform gun depression, which is why I was asking.
Also, the ability to mount a bigger gun would mean enough "wiggling" room to elevate/depress but if the sources says so then I guess I was wrong.

Even that thing can depress about 5 degrees, which is tied with the IS-3.

I think the only other non-SPG with 0 degree depression is the AMX12t, which is why I prefer the AMX 75. That IS-3 dep is painful until you get the BL9 and then you're grinning so much you no longer notice the lousy dep

The AMX12t has a few degrees of gun depression, I have one.
Zero gun depression?
T92.

We already have that tank: VK 3001 (H) with 10,5 cm KwK 42 L/28 gun (quite bad combination).
