Why not when its totally justified?
And why am I again getting errors that some of my replays can not be played since 7.5? Some of them play fine (but with the addtion of a silly little window for some reason) but the one I actually wanted to view wouldnt play.)
Whats the point in us saving epic battles if we can only watch for as long as it is until the next update. BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY WG!
The file format changed a few times, they said they wanted to roll out this feature as soon as possible and warned about losing backwards compatibility. I don't like it as well, but I understand the reasons behind it.
Even if the file format would not change anymore, there is still the problem of content changes with each patch. For example - what should the game do when you try to play 0.7.4 replay with SU-85 armed with 107mm ZiS gun using 0.7.5? The gun is no longer there - and that's just one of many tweaks made in 0.7.5.
One solution would be to keep all files from all versions in-game and corresponding game-replay version would use them. But that's a maintainability nightmare
