You might want to give this tool a try: http://forum.worldof...ay-old-replays/

It automatically installs older WoT-versions as needed to play your replays (currently only 0.8.x, but 0.7.x support will be added soon)

Where does it download the files from? My point in all this stuff was to avoid third-party sites to prevent security/malware concerns.

Files are hosted on my server and were originally downloaded and verifyed using the torrent files from this post before repacking. So yeah I see your point. The tool is optimized for convenience and for this sadly has to build on trust alone...

A question, because I'm a bit bad with this: I downloaded the 8.5 eu install, installed it, but if I try to watch a replay, it replays with the 8.6 client. How can watch a 8.5 replay? Thank you

The easiest way to do it is to drag the .replay file and drop it on the 0.8.5 WorldOfTanks.exe :)

Ehm, na wait. I installed with the eu install, but there's no .exe . If I try to run the wotlauncher, it wants to update to 8.6 (i think, it starts downloading a big file). What do I need to do?

Same here ;/.

Also, will it be possible to run 8.5 replay with 8.4?

As I see the 8.5 is a big problematic. I will try to download 8.4 then patch it up. But right now, I have other thing to attend.

Ok, so I dug in to find out what the problem with the .exe-less install is. It installs without the exe, true, but that can be easily fixed :)

You will need basic computer info and 7zip software (at least for the 0.8.5 .patch files). So the guide is as follows:
  • By any means available download the "WoT_0.8.5_eu_install.zip" (or whatever version you want)
  • Unzip the content of the achive (any WinXP and newer OS can open zip files natively)
  • There you will find an install .exe and another folder called "WoT_internet_install_eu"
  • Open that folder and you will see several .patch files, these are according to the file header in fact only renamed .7z archives
  • Un-7zip all the files into a new folder
  • Voilá, you have a working (in this case) 0.8.5 game client! :)
I tested it and it works, at least for the 0.8.5 and 0.8.4, I don't have any earlier .patch files in the update directory of my current version game client. However, it should be the same for previous versions that suffer from this problem.

If you run into a version that does not behave, tell me about it and I'll have a look.

Enjoy! :)

Protip: if you have already installed the game client via the WG installer, you can find the .exe in one of the archives by hand, but beware, I have not tested this approach and can't vouch that it will work and that no other files will be missing :/

Edit:

You can obtain 7zip for free here:
  • don't worry, it is a trusted piece of open source software :)
  • it contains the 7-Zip File Manager, a tool with which you can open these .patch files (they don't even need to have the .7z suffix)
  • from there it is pretty straightfoward to extract it
  • or you can use a plugin for Total Commander for example, etc.

Ufff....what's the problem? That WG releases an update (~ tries to make the game better) every month or two? That's actually a good thing.

If you have a slow internet connection than that's sad but there's not much WG can do about that.

Did you try to patch your current game (from 0.8.7) to 0.8.1? That won't (luckily from the screenshot) work :)

You need to download the full setup and install it into a different directory, completely separate from your current game.

Um, sorry, I forgot about this :)

You need to install 0.8.0 and then patch it to 0.8.1.

Was scratching my head about my 0.8.5 installation that had gotten corrupted and couldn't be installed from scratch again...
But then I found your post!

Confirmed, working just fine on 0.8.5.

I don't know if any duplicate files are the same, but I unpacked the .patch files in numerical order (top to bottom).
In case later patches has updated files, you don't wanna overwrite a newer file.

I couldn't do a patch-install from 0.8.4 to 0.8.5 and 0.8.6.
Before this versions comes out, it was an .exe-file, but now it's a .patch-file. I copy the file into the patch-folder, close internet connection and want the launcher install the patch, but it doesn't work. And with 7zip, i can look inside and copy the whole files over the 0.8.4, but it doesnt work. I know why, but i don't know, how to fix this.
Can anyone help me with this?

thnx
Tutori
