Out of all the T9 mediums, it is easily the worst but this doesn't make it a bad tank.

Well, I tried that guy on the test server and I can't say it's bad. In IX tier battle it can turn into little bouncing machine. I don't know if that's because of buff they gave him, or no, but I'm positively surprised about overall stock tank play. And, as long as team was winning battles, I was making profit (dividing credits by 10 ofc).
But I suppose, as every tank it needs more skills than stats. I was able to nearly kill T-54 on test server (maxed) using my T-44 (maxed). He had ~600hp when his friends came (form ~1300 when we started to fight), when I died, it was ~200.

Well, with the next patch the T-43 will be weaker, the T-34-85 is already a marmite tank, and the A-20/T-34 lot ain't so hot either if you're grinding them rather than playing for fun. Things only get good from the T-44 onwards, and that's a lot of grinding before you see any results.

Talking about my beloved T-54? This tank is perfect balance of tier 9 meds: strong shell (front only!)(E-50 is better, patton not) average speed (as for T9 meds, batmobile is better, patton not) average view range (patton is better, batmobile is not), gun is good at close distance... T-54 has good agility though, good enough to chase down any scout except t-50-2, can do the scouting himself, even can fight like heavy if in the right, covering weakspots place. Its a very descent tank, but requires skilled crew (and operator of course). Very multitasking machine, just not sniper. Besides WG loves russian tanks, so among all constantly nerfed tanks you can relax and enjoy forum whinings like "WG hates germans" or "big french nerf incoming" .

Just to add. It can chase down everything exept a T-50-2 and french arty. They got 5-10km on us. Just last game i only just managed to keep a Tier 6 arty in my sight range until our arty nailed him, forget about hitting him on the move.
But its a very fun tank to play even if stats show its weaker that the other Tier IXs. And now when patch comes out stock will get a buff, so its a no brainer. If you already have the T-44 go for it. (i still dont have the top gun on the T-54 and end up doing a fair bit of damage in it)

If you like to play mediums then go for it. I'm medium player and I like all tier9 mediums (haven't try BatChat yet). While I like E50 most, my experience is that Patton and T54 are more flexible.
And btw playing medium tanks requires a certain skill, especially tier9 so it doesn't suit everyone. If it doesn't suit you you can be disappointed. For example you have to move a lot, change positions to take advantage. You have to scout, attack, defend, everything. Playing TD or Heavy is IMO little easier in general because you don't and can't maneuver so much.

Oh, oh, and eliting it is a nightmare. Running around tiers 9 and 10 with 7 tier gun... And eats your money really fast, playing it is expensive... like driving super-car. And best gun: seriously? What happens with every shell after 150 - 200 meters? Why it suddenly falls down or turns? Why??? Is it shotgun or something?
Pls don`t listen to this. It is my beloved T-54 after all... With some skill and a bit of luck able to dominate battlefield by himself...

The T-54 is a good fun tank, but it has its pros and cons.
The pros : it's really fast and very reactive, it has a low profile (= easy to hide), a great armor (bouncinium-made) and a powerful gun for a Med (I know many heavies that would die with jealousy in front of the 390 damage-per-shot rate...)
The cons : the gun has the slowest DPM of all Tier 9 Meds, which is a bit problematic for a tank that is conceived to rush & circle the enemy. Why is it supposed to? Because the gun also has an average accuracy giving you a hard time sniping around, and also very inaccurate while the tank is in movement until you get close enough to the enemy not to care about accuracy anymore. When played in a wolfpack with other T-54s, T-44s or Type-59s (and even Batchats) it can easily crush a flank and bring havoc to the enemy team. But you rely more on your teammates & arty than the "lone wolf" Patton or the "Medium TD" E-50.
Now it's up to you to decide whether it matches your gameplay style. If it does, this tank's definitely worth it.
Oh, one last remark : I forgot a last huge con. I hope you have a great moneymaker in your garage, because you'll rarely be positive in the T-54, credits-wise. This tank costs tons of money to roll out and you have to be very performant (say, at least 3 frags + 3 assists with +1500 damage dealt in the game) to hope to earn something.

I wanna trade my t-54 for patton, 54 is far from bouncy like it used to be you need terrain for cover these days and in t-54 terrain will only kill you, and gun depression is like the one from GWTiger. But you can go for 54 cause 62 with it's sweet rof and 240mm turret is kinda good and let's you forget crappy lower armor and again shit gun depression.

As with anyone looking at a tank, it depends on your playstyle. The T54 is not exactly bad, but because it doesn't easily take out Patton's Batchat's or E50's then everyone likes to pretend it's terrible (because ofc, you spend all day fighting other tier 9 meds head to head)
Out of all the tier 9's it's the one that is move of a brawler getting in close and causing heavy tanks to turn their tanks or turrets to counter, allowing your team mates to hit into them. Get in close, get some hits and then back off. It's a good tank for making enemy players 2nd guess their plan of attack. It's a good all rounder like the Type 59 is. It's the drivers that really make the tank shine.

No that is not why ppl don't like it. It is to expensive to play, ammo cost just doesn't make sense and it have no roll to play, it is avg at best and everything it is good at someone else can do better.
