Just come from a zoom around the forum, and I must admit the number of neg rep's being dished out beats me some times. Personally, neg rep is for those obvious trolls who are looking to get a rise by being malicious, or offensive for no good reason.

But there seems to be a trend of negging people for just stating an opinion you disagree with. Surely not?

This seems pretty pointless to me without an explanation - if you disagree with an opinion, for gawds sake say why!! or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Rant over, back to sleep for me...... :Smile_harp:

Edit:- Fair point BattleMetalChris - stupid is as stupid does as the saying goes....

And to my neg repper - Irony, or just proving my point? :Smile_blinky:

Look at the OPs' rep , already negative !
This rep system needs to go , it stifles discussion and allows non-contributing members influence without direction or substance .

I tend to give neg-rep for any badly-thought out opinions, whether I disagree with them or not. Generally things like 'XVM once predicted a 52% chance to win but we lost it so the whole XVM and efficiency rating is rigged and innaccurate and stats mean nothing anyway so my 40% w/r in my Lowe actually means I'm a great player'

Reputation points have been around on forums for years. Most boards have dropped the system simply because on the internet any mechanism that can be abused... will be abused. So nobody takes them seriously
The only reason that WG are using them on this forum is probably because they want you to feel more important than you actually are.

Completely agree Teazle , but not sure about the reason WG use it .
Maybe it is a form of self moderation for the forum as it discourages heated exchanges or radical/different points of view .

If it is, it's not doing a very good job.

Not wrong there Chris , in fact I think it makes things worse !
Take this thread for instance , I have had plus rep and negative rep .... up and down like the proverbial .
Yet no one has posted their opinion to agree or disagree ..... now , to some people that may be enough to cause a rage at the forum (and I have seen posts that indicate this has p!ssed people off) .

Would be nice for a forum mod to post and give the official line on this aspect of our community communications .

I don't neg rep, I prefer to tell the poster why I disagree with him/her instead.
