Interface additions in 8.0
supercharge
26 Jul 2012
Hi All,
Here you can see some of the upcoming changes in the user interface (UI) planned for 8.0.
You can use this news system in the battle by simply holding a respective key ("Z" by default).
The interface adapts according to your goal. Menu segment (petal) is chosen by mouse movement and a command is issued upon release of "Z" key (command text and target nickname are sent to team channel, if necessary).
Commands:

What is the logic behind F8? "Reloading" and "FooBar, stop" don't seem to have anything in common.

I've been waiting for more commands to be implemented, so this is a great addition!

Can we still use the old system, you know, "F2 Attack!" and "F7 Help!" ?

Looks nice. No added functionality though. Just different look and in fact reduced functionality. I don't like it that I need to point at my team members to give advice like follow me. Sometimes they are behind rocks and I can't click them. Plus I don't really like that I now need to click them all instead of pressing just one button. Not to mention I don't want to let my turret turn into random directions when I'm in tight spot just so I can use those commands.
And as for gui changes I really wish the old chat functionality (you could send message to everyone just by pressing shift-enter) was brought back though. Pressing enter and then typing a message and then sending it by pressing either enter or shift-enter was much easier than to have to press tab to choose recipient and then pressing enter. Why was shift-enter taken out?
Also when we are talking about interface why not put the "hide gui button" (V) behind some more complex keyboard shortcut (like control-v) and show a blinking text on screen that shows what buttons you need to press to get gui back? Now if you accidentally press v during a battle you have no idea at all how to get the gui back and the only way really to get it back is to restart your wot client. And it is really easy to accidentally press v during battles.. And extremely frustrating. You can't even map it to control-v yourself because the game doesn't understand keyboard shortcuts with multiple buttons.

Attacking [for SPGs] / Requesting fire at [for other tank types] <nick_name>
I have small issue with that. When playing tank or TD I often use T key to mark my target, to avoid every single player shooting at one target, when there are multiple enemy tanks visible and in range. It would be bad to lose that functionality, I think that some other key should be mapped with "Request fire" function.
Any reason for that -1? Did I isnulted anyone? Said something stupid? Just made a suggestion.

F10-F12 should be used as programable commands. One should input command in garage. For example scouts would send "I'm going" or so.

And Idk why you got -1. Someone disagrees with you probably.

Some players use T key on different purposes. For example, if there are multiple targets, you can use T to mark the primary target, so others know what to shoot (that's opposite to your purpose). Or to co-operate with arty.
Yeah, I know. And I don't mean that it should be removed, never. It is quite helpful too. I just think if we are to get expanded command menu, we should get both "I am attacking <player x> (so shoot at someone else who is visible too)" and "Attack <player x>" commands.
And I suppose that -1 is from someone that disagrees with me, yeah, but instead just voting -1 that person should just write why he/she disagrees with me. -1 should be reserved to stupid, insulting and offtopic posts. Basic netiquette.
