I think the configuration files have lost the game files because you copied them.
Best way is to reinstall directly on ssd

Mmh... needs alot of time to redownload the whole game.
No files that i can delete and the launcher will update them by himself and game is runing? :P

I had the same problem.
Download the new installer, but keep the update directory.

This has nothing to do with a bad computer.

Ive just upgraded computer to a new SSD and upped memory plus a W7 operating system to utilize that memory.  After a fresh download of WOT,  i am also just hanging on the "connecting....." bit

system details:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
System RAM: 8191 MB
CPU Name: AMD Phenom™ II X2 555 Processor
CPU Speeds: 3200
Physical CPUs: 1
Virtual CPUs: 2
Video Card Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
VRAM: 1023 MB
Primary Display Resolution: 1920x1200
Language: English (United States)
Hard Drive: SanDisk SDDX120GG25 120.0GB
Free Hard Drive Space: 68655 MB
Total Hard Drive Space: 114470 MB
Windows Experience Index Rating: 6.6

The W7 firewall is turned off ( i have a hardware firewall on the router ) so it isnt that.

Luckily i left the old OP on the old harddrive - so if i dual boot into xp and run the old WOT install - i can play there,  but i want to run this on W7 with SSD.

Any help? Above poster said download new installer....what?
