To all arty players

All of you who play as arty, I know that you all want to kill all the high tier tanks.
But please for crying out loud, COUNTER the enemy arty first!!! I am sick and tires of arty, shooting for tanks with 200 or less hp, when the enemy arty is a more significant threat to the team.
In several matches I have been hit by all of the opposing teams arty, within seconds and none of our arty counters, instead 5 seconds later arty kills a tank. I know that killing a tank is important and can have big impact on the outcome of the battle, but in my opinion countering is more important.
Maybe at the start of the battle, if there are more than one arty, talk to each other and decide who counters and who helps the tanks, or just speak up and say that you going to counter and properly wont be able to help as much.

If I play arty, I want to earn some XP and need to earn some credits. But if I would try to counter the enemy arty all the time, I wouldnt get much XP and credits ... So on some maps I will always counter first, but its useless on maps where arty could stay everywhere.

First, counter only works if they shut 1.st.
Second, most of the time is a waste too look at the spot where they shut usualy (most of high tier arty will relocate after shot).
3rd, You have a 50-80% that you will miss and waste a shell.
4th, its better to finish off the tanks with low hp that are hiding away from your team. 1 of the reasons is that they spot for the enemy arty and the second reason is that rng sometimes favors low hp tanks (that 1 bounced on 1%) and they make a high damage too your team.
5th. Some ppl use xmd or whatever it is mod. The red players never counter, but the better score one will try to counter you (i dont use it)
6th, When the enemy team has scouts i usualy dont shut till they show up (some scouts rush instant in your base and if you are stil reloading you are F+++++). If they dont show up in first 2 min its safe to counterarty.

i disagree with counter, i play arty well and everytime i shooting tanks - i make much more damage and have better chance to change result of battle.

go play tetris dude,u want me to counter arty for what,3-4 mins with 20-80% chances to actually kill it instead of dealing 4-5k dmg on high/low whatever tiers in that time? cause thats what i do in s51 or gw typ e,if there's 3-4 arties on both side or when i play 3arty platoon,i can say-teammate obj212 for example counter arty,i will support our tanks,but when there is only 1 arty its pointless...when there are lower tier arties(grille,hummel,m41 etc)its waste of time too,especially with 'new' he mehanics,when u can splash(miss) is7 700hp and kill half of his crew,experienced arty players would agree with me...

If scouts fail to light their arty, or there are too many places to look, it's a waste of time.
U gotta remember most arty only fires 2 shots a min and good ones move between shots, so the game could be over before they are found, let alone hit.
Whenever I do counterbattery I just get friendly tankers yelling for antitank support.

I have no clue how many arty games on high tier matches does the OP player have, but lets get one thing straight, counter arty is the hardest thing you can do, apart from killing a Maus with AMX13 and you get them in matches
a/ maybe 1/3 of maps have sure arty spots, rest are random locations, b/ how woul d you like to spend 3minutes of the game scanning for a tracer from enemy arty, then aim ur (in some ppls opinion) laser pinpoint accuracy reticle on that spot, fire a 1k shot and see dust, because only stupid arty will not move after making it... so then you wait another 40secs or so while u reload, he reloads, then u see a tracer, fire, dust... you get the loop?... so scouted arty is dead arty, counter arty is patience and luck game... and lets not forget C... all this time while u apparently do nothing you get team aggro in chat being called a noob for not killing that tiger/kv/is/T that is harrasing them...
So please play arty, get some kills on counter, come back and whine some more...

hehe thanPL,dont worry,someone will come here and say-meh,stupid arty players...cause when u play arty in random,99% thinks u r playing JUST arty and u r NOOB Arty Player,get some real tank,but they dont know that u have 4x more battles then them and that u play arty 1/5 battles ; )

Salve!! I play arty, and I agree with you but not every time can counter-arty efficiently if no one spotting them, if we aren't at least 3 arty on my team to searching them for tracer, otherwise is a waste of time and life of our team mates. For me they are my first target, when are on my map.

it is impossible to counter arty in many maps, and it is hard to counter arty in all maps. So I think most arty players would chose like this:
Arty(spotted)>HT>TD>MT>LT>Arty(Counter).

the way the game is structured it is only about kill's and spot, that's what counts in your efficiency raiting, and you will not give me a sec of your time to help me if there is one going to kill me so why should I help you.
I sometimes do look for enemy arty but not for long at a time.
I need the kill.
I run both arty and heavy, and is aware of that it is rule of the game when I run heavy should I be careful not get hit by arty, so it is the same for me as it is for you

Id rather go TD>HT, with HTs our team HTs can brawl, with TDs they need help if choke points. Today on Prohorovka we had 3 arties concentrating fire on T95 and T28Prot rather then heavies and it did pay off in the end...
You have to assess what is the biggest threat to your team atm... sometimes it can be a scout that could be breaking thru, sometimes its a TD or HT or an annoying Med circling your TD... but I have to agree with 1 thing Arty spotted is top priority unless its gonna get wasted by the nice little scout that found it, shame to KS on him
, and counter will be only ever top priority if there is a good Arty player on the other team that totaly is pwning approach of your teammates, like Abbey passage, but there if he is getting them it is semi obvious where he is so sometimes a blind shot works without waiting for tracers, also if you just dmg him a bit with splash he will do a long relocate & thing twice b4 next shot, so give your team time to push thru

Stop whining and I'll tell you how it works:
Finishing a crippled Maus, or stare into some bush? Easy choice. Artillery is the primary firepower of your team, remember?
In general I shoot:
1. Biggest threat to me
2. Biggest threat to the team that I can see & hit
3. Most convenient targets
4. Everyone else
5. Whiny team mates
(In that order).
When it comes to several juicy targets lit up at once, but only one shell (sui-scout) its generally:
1. Enemy arty
2. Enemy TD
3. Enemy med
4. Enemy heavy
5. Enemy light
Higher tiers first of course: an ISU-152 will likely get shot before a Grille.
When it comes to dealing lots of damage to one healthy tank, or finishing a crippled one, I will generally kill off the crippled one if I don't see he's about to die anyway.
A dead tank cannot fire it's gun. A dead tank can't cap. A dead tank can't scout. A dead tank cannot kill me. A living but damaged tank can do it all, and just as good as a full health one. Killing is better than dealing damage, in most situations.
If I got a clear shot I will fire, I don't save shells.
That said, I do counter arty, but it only really works on some maps. Mines is perfect, Steppes OK, Himmelsdorf impossible.

However, all that does is generate "arty sleep!!!!!!????" when I don't hit what the team wants me to.
Also it is hard to counter arty when your team has let a scout into base..AGAIN.
