M48A1 ammo rack...WTF

Hi everyone, I have drven my M48 for a while and I find it is very easy to get hit on ammo rack even its not easy for others to blow me up at once but still I find it a bit annoying and its happened often when I just used my repair kid for my truck....
Is this tank need wet ammo rack like T44?
And I also find this tank's acceleration is BAD and even slower than my pershing which makes it almost impossible to circle the heavy tanks.
Any tips on how to play this tank well?
I have just come back to this game since after the beta since many of my friend is still playing it~ even the 250 gold per day has gone, still enjoy it.

Use your strength and attack from behind hills, problem solved.
This thing has so much pen and good accuracy you can just hop out from behind hills and snipe stuff.

I have this skill or perk for ammo storage and 100% fire fight on 2 members of the crew, no wet rack - seemed to be better in last few battles.
Tactics? This is not T54. Speed isn't main ability. Try flanking. Fighting from the distance and then change position. Do not stay behind same hill or building too long.
two days I go I've managed to kill 6 or 7 opposite tanks incl. 3 t10 TD's. I was always exactly on oposite side to the one they were expecting me. Use precision of your gun - accelerate loading and precision by modules and crew skills.
It is probably one of the best tanks in game IMHO.

Personally i didnt even use WAR on my T-44 and i never had problems with it. If you feel your ammo rack is damaged too often, mount it or let your loader learn the Safe Stowage skill, which is practically the same and doesnt fill a valuable equipment slot.

Why even circle heavy tanks? 270 pen in combination with speed and power... by far more than for example a Maus has and it doesnt have to (and cant anyway) drive around others either.

I dont own it but i can imagine a playing style equal to pershing's. If your gun depression allows it, use the terrain for you own advantage when other tanks dont have an equal gun depression. Generally, dont forget you are a med. If you cant do anything at one flank, like when there are too many heavies camping, just go somewhere else where you might have better chances. You might be a top tier, but still it is a med's role to support heavies when they are fighting the enemy heavies.

I have the safe stowage perk and in the very few (about 15) games I've played I have only taken damage to the ammo rack twice. In the same game, after using the repair kit
