Download the Dx9.0c Installer from the Microsoft Website, it will download all the files it needs. I was in the same position, apparently WoT uses some DX9 stuff that isn't included in DX11.

DirectX11 and DirectX9 are separate. You must install DirectX9 if you want to play World of Tanks and a big bunch of other games.

If you dont want advice, then dont ask for advice.

DirectX 11 does not include all files from DirectX 9.0c. Guess which files that are.... :Smile_sceptic:

Hi,
I just posted this into the Newcomer forum. I am fed up with tips that do not work. I got Direct X11. Anybody who has a serious answer?

a friend recommended this game, I looked at it and found it to be interesting. I got a brand new laptop with the latest drivers.
I downloaded the whole night, started it and ...

IT DID NOT WORK!

Broke off because  d3dx9_43.dll is missing. Uninstalled the game, loaded it again, hours later ...

THE SAME ERROR.

Searched the forum, downloaded the requested file, put it into the games folder, the Windows/System32 folder, the Windows/SysWOW64 folder, restarted the computer ...

STILL THE SAME ERROR.

Searched forum again, downloaded a Microsoft Direct3d installer, executed this...

THE SAME SHIT.

Now I am fed up!

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER TO TRY TO MAKE THIS CRAP RUN, IT WILL PROBABLY NEVER DO.

Besides my profession as an engineer I am sometimes writing my own games and I know how to make an installer which is providing all components needed - these guys don't.

You want a serious answer? Go to Microsoft.com, search for the DrectX 9.0c Webinstaller, download it, execute it, and it works. If not, you should probably reinstall a fresh OS.

Seems the files should be in C:\Program Files (x86) if running win7. At least that is where they are on mine.

By the way, here is the link for Directx9.0c   http://www.microsoft...ls-a.aspx?id=35

Yeah, I found another DirectX9 installer and used that. This time it works - almost.
I get the WoT client window, the game loads, window turns black and music is playing.
That's it. A black window with music, no change after minutes.

Any suggestions?

@ Wolfesblut:
Did that, it helped, see above. I tried the same with some other installer at the microsoft site in germany which did not work.
You mean install a new Operating System? For a game? Not really.

@ Sgt Bones:
Thx, looks like the site I used this time.
It distributes the dll's to Windows/System32 and Windows/SysWOW64 which looks right for me.

Suggestion: What kind of laptop is that? What does it have for a graphics card? Because a black screen but music playing usually means a not up to date driver....or a graphics card that just sucks so hard it will stutter in facebook games!

Oh yeah, one other thought...java, adobe flash etc all up to date and installed?

Java and Flash plugins are not needed for World of Tanks. Updating them isn't a bad idea, but it won't affect the game in any way.

Listing the hardware specs would help a lot to pinpoint the problem. Although i have the suspicion that the laptop is equipped with an Intel videochip. If that is the case, you will not be able to run the game.

Hi,
it is a Dell XPS L702X, 2 cores, with an internal Intel HD Graphics and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M in parallel. The Laptop was bought Nov last year, should be up to date. I directed WorldOfTanks.exe to the NVIDIA graphics at the NVIDIA System control. The update button for the NVIDIA drivers is lowlighted, I think it updates automatically.
I see a window named W.o.T. Client (not fullscreen) with the Loading, please wait .... bar. Then it turns black and some music starts which ends after some minutes. Window stays black.

There is some software to print the full system specification, but I cannot remember the name.
