I'm looking for someone to recommend me a tank to play which meets certain criteria.  I've ground my way up to a T110E5 only to find that although I love the tank I don't enjoy playing it because there is just something about losing credits each match which I don't like.

I'm looking for a tanks which:

• doesn't cost too much to run. It doesn't have to make money, just not lose money (for an average player & without premium account).
  
• can damage most tanks that it comes up against.  I find low tier tanks (i.e. 5 or 6) spend too much time against high tier tanks which they can't even scratch so I really want something as high a tier as possible.

I love the look of T-54 and was hoping that as I just about broke even on my tier 8 heavy I could also break even on a tier 9 medium but the more I read about the more I hear people say it's a very expensive tank to run.

The best idea I can come up with is tier 8 medium - most likely the Panther II, T-44 or AMX-13-90.  They should be high enough tier to be useful in most matches and damage most other tanks (even if just from the flanks) but low enough to not lose credit on average.

What do people think!  What are those 3 tanks like or do you have any other ideas?

T-50
It's usually in lowish battles and can murder everything, even IS and KV if played right.

As for higher tiers I'd suggest SU-152 with derp gun. The reload might be 15sec, but since it's matched with lower tiers you have a good chance of penetrating with HE, resulting in some epic moments. By far the best tank I've played.

If you are an average player (looking at your stats), I would say go for a tank below tier 8 if you want to drive it A LOT. Without premium it will take you a long time to make credits with tier 8 (I struggle myself to make profit with King Tiger fx)

KV-3 worked for me because its easy to drive and can pwn ass with the 390 avg damage.

Tiger P should also be a good tank

T-43, Panther, T20.... I can recommend those cos theyre fun to drive

A good tier 5 moneymaker will be the PzIV, it has an awesome gun, and you should have no problem damaging tier 7 tanks (the maximum tier it can get up againgst), if you know hoe to aim

Hellcat, Pz4, Kv-1, KV-2 (for trolling)

(hellcat may have a problem a litttle too damage but its fast enogh too come on soft sides)

Trust me the T-54 was the biggest money sink before the T-62A. Dont buy it, Im an above average player and mostly lost money with it.

T-44 and AMX 13 90 are nice, I would also reccomend the IS-3

I dunno how it works after the patch, but 13 75 gave me a lot of fun, pwning everything around. Now its place may be taken by 6 tier AMX12t, but it suits well into your description. But basically, you have to choose between 7 and 8 tier. Panther is great, also, if you like playing TD - check JgPanther, with 88mm gun it actually makes money and can damage most of tanks (or even all of them, but not frontally).

ELC AMX

T49! Very fast little beast.

I already have the ELC AMX - and it is brilliant. More like driving a radio controlled car than a tank!

I also have the Panther which again is brilliant but the damage of the joker gun is just sooo low.

I had the AMX 12t which I liked but sold for funds for my T110E5.  I'm saving to buy it back again now and might grind up to the AMX 13-90.

Also I think I'm probably better than my stats suggest - I've spent most of my time driving stock tanks with 50% crew.  When I've actually bothered to upgrade a tank and get crew to 100% I've done well.

So do the tier 8 mediums pretty much break even then?

Panther II is an excellent choice. Speed to get into position, with good gun to fire from longer range with good penetration. Excellent support tank and can go brawl if required.

SO, a tank that can penetrate everything it meets, and dosen't lose money?

Every elited tank that is not tier 9 or up should do. (except the tier 4 french TD, its horrible)

VK2801 without "derp" gun. Oh my, so much fun.
You penetrate, and no, your not shooting nukes at the foe, but hell, the psychological effect it has. "Oh my, I am hit, who did that...turns around, loses focus..."

It's like people trying to fight off blood sucking flying summer creatures (I admit, don't know the english name for them), it's annoying as hell but still they sting. Bam!, someone on your team finish the enemy off whilst you distract the enemy. Sweet victory!

i would recommend buying the t34 premium heavy tank, such a joy to play and farms credits like a farmer ;) it's worth the gold if u know how to play it and it doesn't take too much brains to use it correctly. the turret is mega strong, gun depression awesome, gun damage awesome, gun penetration awesome. minuses include long reload, long aim time, fairly slow speed similar to t32, bad hull armour, slow rotation speed for both turret and hull. also, weak side armour. Most of these disadvantages can be neutrilised by skills and equipment. it might be the only money u spend on the game and will benefit you for as long as you play the game. good luck with your choices.

T-28 prot is the only "tank" that I would choose (except for all damn russian tanks). It makes money, you can pen pretty much anything frontally, good DPM, strong armor. Only flaw is speed.

T-34-85. Loved it - the top gun just rapes every moving thing out there.
