21st August 1968 is a date, when Soviet army and their main allies in the Warsaw pact invaded the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
Soviet army occupied Czechoslovakia for more than 20 years until 1989 - the fall of communism. It was the toughest years for people of Czechoslovakia since WWII. Many of them emigrated - some sources say, it was 100-200 thousand. It is one of the worst historical event in modern history of Czech republic and Slovakia.
