Hello all,

Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice as where to upgrade my machine. I know it is never going to be a beast but thought I could stretch a couple more years out of it!! Don't want to spend much max of £50.

CPU is a Intel Core 2 6400 2.13Ghz
2Gb RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7900GS 256MB
Windows 7 32bit

With those stats I can to my mind put in a better graphics card with more RAM and newer chip or put in another 1 to 2gb of RAM as I dont have the 64bit windows 7. Which do you think will give me the best FPS increase?

A second question have they changed the slots for graphics cards lately? I presume I can just slot in a new one! Mother boards is a P5W DH Deluxe - Asus I think.

Not trying to get everything to run at high detail but stopping it dropping below 20FPS would be good!

Many thanks in advance!

You could try putting in a better video card,if it works fine, but you are restricted by a- the motherboard b- the processor, just putting a new videocard in,will not automatically give you better results. The bottleneck in your case would be your CPU.Try to install the latest drivers, try to put as much of the details of the game to low or out,for instance, shading and water, smoke from your tank, trackmarks etc,etc off.It has to work with all the components, try the internet for your configuration and you cant automatically put any videocard in there are different slots, wish you all the best with your pc,happy tanking. :Smile_amazed:

2Gb of RAM and and a HD 6670 2Gb, wont be much over £50...

I got a HD6670 from Maplins for £41 delivered, (and some cashback thru Quidco)
2GB DDR2 can be had for under £20 if you look around and watch for the sales newsletters
(make sure you get 2 x 1GB to utilise the dual channel if your motherboard has it)

That CPU should overclock well if your motherboard can...  See if it has any Overclocking options in the BIOS, many have a +10 or +20% profile set by the manufaturer so should be safe. Google it...
My old E6420 ran at 3.2Ghz for 2 years... its now in the HTPC running at 2.4Ghz to keep the fans quieter..

1680x1050, Medium settings with tracks turned off, FRAPS say from 36 to 59 fps....

I normally have it on 1700x1000 with slightly higher settings to make it look nicer and get 30-45 fps
