That's right - there will be no tree representing the famous French in World of War Planes.

What can have gone wrong?

How can these pioneers of Aviation and builders of world beating aircraft have been ignored?

What diplomatic incident could have caused such a snub?  Weren't they the first to send a man with a chicken up in a balloon?  How can any game purporting to be about war planes ignore the noble L'Armee de l'Air and their auto loading aeroplanes?

I don't know - but instead the world of warplanes will be represented by Nazi Germany, the mighty USA, Imperial Japan, and Soviet Russia.

The Germans? - well of course they should be represented - not only did they make a lot of great planes - they started the whole thing off.  Germany is a natural. And the Me109 and FW 190 were top aircraft of their day.

The USA?  Never mind that the USA didn't enter the War until December 1941 - and then not properly until 1942 - the US started weak and ended strong - and they have a lot of WG customer potential - so USA - yep I can live with that as long as you give me a B29 Superfortress and a P51 Mustang.  Top aircraft.

Japan?  Started strong but failed to improve - responsible for the surprise carrier attack on Pearl Harbour I can see the reasoning behind their inclusion.  Gotta love the Zero if nothing else. And there is little else to love.

Soviet Russia - started out very badly - lost 2500 aircraft within days of the war starting - but credit to them they hung on and by the end produced two stand out aircraft -  the imperious Ilyushin Il 2 Shturmovik ground attack aircraft - and the Yakovlev Yak 3 - a Soviet Spitfire.

Which leads me to ponder why there is no place for the world's first independent air force - the RAF - in this scenario?

Have they no planes worthy of inclusion?  Did they not fight much?

Let's see  - the Hawker Hurricane shot down more German aircraft than any other in WW2 - but perhaps because it was made of wood and canvas it should be ignored?
The little known Supermarine Spitfire did a spot of battling too - but perhaps not enough even though it was made of aluminium?
The even less known Typhoon ground attack aircraft is an obvious weak spot - winning the battle in North Africa and D-Day is not enough.
And then the practically non-existent Mosquito - what a joke - made of bamboo - is it a fighter?  Is it a bomber?  Why is it faster than a Spitfire and more deadly?  Honestly - what are the British like.  Silly sods.  Then creating the jet engine - what a bunch.

No - the RAF were a minor player - we'll leave them out.

Does anyone know - what is it with WG?

Apparently, they aim at the main markets first and then add other countries in later, and the same is planned for world of battleships

You should post this on WoWp forum, where people actually raise their eyebrows.

The British will supposedly be released soon after the game comes out of beta.

It has - my dear pedant - to do with a systematic ignoring of an entire nation - as exampled in WoT.

Many thanks for the negatives.

My worry for the British tanks tree in WoT is that we will wish it hadn't been released after it is :)

But, being an optimist I am still hopeful for the "interesting" tree we are being promised...

Well OP, I'm pretty certain the UK and the French will be included in WoWP.

They might not be in WoWP at launch, but I am pretty certain they will be there.

Look at it like this; The British were the first to use tanks and in World War II they place a strong 4th place in the constest "Which nation had the most tanks" yet they are only now about to be included in World of tanks. They will very likely be included in WoWP as well. If not at launch, then within a reasonable time-frame. And just as the French were a late arival in WoT they will probably make a late arival for WoWP as well. Just guessing though. The Wargaming industry is planing to continue to work and release features and vehicles for WoT for at least two more years and probably further. They will update their games for as long as they can, as this will keep profit and gamer interests up. Why would WoWP be any different?

So whats the logic behind the French in WoT? IIRC the EU markets are, in order:
Poland, Germany, Czechoslovakia (or whatever its called this week), Britian with France coming in 5th. although it has a lot less players than the UK..

They said the British would be the next tech tree in WoWP.
Then they announced the Japanese.

Don't worry, just wait.

The French planes will be introduced later, same as they did with French tanks in WoT.

They will fly at Mach 2 and fire Gatling rocket launchers.

Im from norway and in my opinion its stupid to leave out the british, in WOT WOWP and WOWs. how can you make a war game with out the one allied country that was in the war the whole time, whit out the matilda tank, spitfire or the prince of wales.

To Be fiar we weren't exactly "Allied" to Norway in the start. Remember Norway did end up getting invaded by both sides at the same time.

It would have been interesting if they released a basic Tech Tree in the timeline that each nation actually entered WW2 and beyond over a period of a year or two. :Smile-hiding:
