Of course I've seen the movie, but that was ages ago while most of WOT players weren't even born yet :) so when I caught it again today on a local TV station, it cracked me up. It has also inspired me to re-buy my 76mm Sherman, mount a loudspeaker on it and go own me some Tigers :Smile_trollface-3:(yeah, right, that's gonna happen).
Then I'm going to invest a small amount of gold and rename the commander to Sgt. Oddball and gunner to Moriarty. I do believe that the notion itself is worth every penny. :)

"Always with the negative waves, Moriarty! Always with the negative waves!"

Anyway, I just wanted to recommend the movie to anyone who hasn't seen it, in the light of the tank game we're all playing it's pretty damn epic.

And in the end, it's all about the gold. Sounds familiar? :)

There's IMDB for that, I've put in a link. :)
Also, as much as Telly is cool as an actor, I never particularly liked his character in this particular flick. Donald Sutherland I have mentioned through his epic character, Oddball. :)

I watched the first half of this movie around 2-3 days ago (had to get some job done). Tried everything but I simply couldn't find out how is it called, so thank you for that.
I'm on my way to watch the rest of it ^^
ps. I'll spend all the upvotes of today (what's left) on you

Also, check out the traverse speed on that Tiger when they chase around town. It's pretty epic. :)

thats because theyre not actually tigers, its a mock-up superstructure on a T34 chassis, which they somehow managed to get in the height of the cold war ( i dont know how)

Compare the suspension of the 'tigers' in the film with the Tiger and the T34 if you dont believe me

Just so much fun that film. Even with fake tigers, still cool.

Its a good film but could have been so much better, It was re-edited by MGM before release and apparently lots of good footage ended up on the cutting room floor.

You can see the story jump cuts, about 2 thirds the way through (they loose two of the three Shermans crossing a river) we never see any of what happens there, just the two tanks burning  but its a big battle with the bailey bridge assembled by the marching band :)

Also the tone of the movie is often mixed, going from somber war movie (the deaths in the minefield) , to out and out farce (the outhouse shot by the tiger) and back again.

Its still well worth a watch, its worth noting this was the last movie Clint Eastwood made for a studio production company, everything after is made my Malpaso (which he owns), possibly a reaction to MGM running rough shod over the movie.

I never knew that , cheers +1 :)
Clint has done many good films , age doesn't seem to blunt his edge .

Heard a tale about him at the grammys (I think it was) .
He was sat at a table with his friends and an award was announced for "The Office" .
Ricky Gervaise and all his entourage got up on the stage to receive the award .
Clint leaned over to his friend and asked "Who the f*** are all those?"

Might just be me that laughs at that story , but it just illustrates the talent gap between Clint and Gervaise , lol

Hehe no that's pretty funny, Ricky Gervais can be funny, but he thinks hes funnier than he is, Clint has been making quality movies for a good 50 odd years now, he started of working and learning from great directors ( Sergio Leone and Don Seagal) and keeps making good movies today.

Even his lesser known stuff such as Hang em High and Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (Michael Ciminos first big movie) are good movies.

Or something like that :D

You'll have to have another +1 for just mentioning the title !
