My best money-maker, along with the SU-85.

Using D10T 24/7

I can't say much about the T-34-85 cause I don't have the long 85 or 100 mm yet.I will say this though the armor really sucks on this tank as well as performance and I have 100 crew and upgraded tracks and engine

You don't need armor.

Seems like the people that figure out how to drive a tier 6 with no armor are the better players in general. IE not the T44/54s that get themselves killed.

Based on my experience in the two, I just wanted to state that when compared to the VK3601(H), the T-34-85 is a complete piece of shit.

That is all, carry on.

I'm using the 122mm gun on my T34/85 and I'm really enjoying it. The gun is not very good at long ranges but up close to medium range it packs one hell of a punch when it hits. Its a slow loader as well but I've put a rammer on it and I'm making money with it. I do wish it had better armor but I suppose thats something of a common gripe many tankers have with their tanks.

Having played both I disagree, both are extremely good tanks, the VK can take more beating while the 34-85 can deliver more beating.
Even without the D10T I think this tank really kicks ass, using the rammer, vents and gun laying drive and 90% crew.:Smile-playing:

I'm finding that the D5T-85BM is the best choice for a maxed out T-34/85.

Pros:
1- Much faster shooting than the D10T.
2- More accurate than the D10T.
3- Lighter, improving your handling slightly.

Cons:
a- Less penetration

I always found that the D10T simply could not shoot fast enough in many of the engagements that I find myself in. The D10T also doesn't have the accuracy to snipe reliably. With the D5T I get just as much total damage output as the D10T and misses hurt me less. Against heavier targets I'll have more trouble, but that's only from the front. Since i'm usually flanking anyway and getting side armor shots this isn't so much of an issue.

I just got the 34-85 and after looking at all the first upgrades I really have to wonder if the engines and the suspension are even worth upgrading. The upgraded engine is only 20 more HP (less than 5% better) and the suspension only adds .3 more tons (iirc) to its capacity.

To everyone's who's upgraded this tank, did you actually notice a change when you upgraded the engine and suspension?

Noticed no change with the new engine in acceleration, but I did notice it going uphill.
And the tracks you have to upgrade to put everything on don't you? I don't know as I got them with free xp right after I got the thank.

Well I have had this tanks for a day now Fully upgraded ecept the engine because its stock on the T43, and im already half way to the T43 will have it tomorrow. The tank itself kinda feels to slow. I have always been a heavy tank player so I am used to it but when you go almost the same speeds as a heavy tank it kinda takes away the point. The armour is not bad it does bounce a ton of shots but the ones that do get past hurt pretty good. I have been killed a few times from those pesky ammo rack hits in this thing and my gunner/loader seems to enjoy dieing all the time which is kinda funny. The 100mm is a GREAT gun tho, I have gotten many kills with it often 1-2 tier tanks above me which is very  impressive. This tanks is great for hiding behind something and taking potshots at the enemy and retreating behind cover before he shoots.

Now I HAAAAAAAAATED the T34 tank so from that to this was a huge improvement overall, id rate the T34-85 a 7/10. I just look at it as something I have to get by on the road to the T54 and I am sure you will enjoy it.

I've gotta add some love for the 122mm derp gun. It's my preferred gun for this tank. You can really surprise the heavies and can one-shot some of the lower tier tanks and TDs.

Sure the RoF sucks and the accuracy isn't great (100% gunner helps a lot here), but it's still a hoot. Thw low RoF forces me to play more conservatively and not leave my ass hanging out where it can get shot off.

Shoot

reload, reload, reload, reload, reload, reload, reload,
Repeat

I love the 122mm on it as well... but only until I grind out the second 85mm or the 100mm. I haven't decided yet...

Well as detailed above, I'd say you should go with the D5T :P It just suits the T34/85 so much better than the D10T.

I quite like the 100mm gun on mine, took a Ferdi down from 100% to 13% before a team mate took the kill, after him it was an M6 down from 100% to 6% before another mate took that one. Didn't count rounds, thier team mate Tiger and a T43 were the ones who paid attention, came and got into a brawl, Tiger and T43 both took a smack though.

Got the rammer installed, think it helps a little.

I've just had my second game with the 100mm  D10T on my T-34-85 after having used the 85mm D5T-85BM gun for a while.  The reload speed is a bit of a problem but I've had the rammer and improved ventilation on the vehicle for as long as I can remember.  I've had the crew on 100% right form the start (used some gold up).

The 100mm is a monster of a gun - I made a pretty pattern (two eyes on the front and was going to get the nose when someone else finished it off) on a VK3602......

Something weird happened to me yesterday. I encounter a T1 and start flanking it while shooting with my 85mm (the first one, but still 120mm penetration). I shot him 3 times at point blank, 2 in the side of his hull and 1 in it's rear. All my shots bounced
I checked and the T1 has a maximum armor of 80mm...

yep his tanks in particular looks bugged a lot of shots bounce not penetrate or t1 just "eat" them and don't get damage .

I love my T-34-85.

Sure it's not the best tank around but it's a great fun to play with providing I am not oneshoted :)

The tank forces you to stay mobile and keep the enemy guessing as to where you are (unless you're in cover).
I try to do hit and run. I only stay in one place for long enough to land a few hits (unless I am very confident in my cover).

I personally switched from 100mm to 85mm gun for the faster reload and accuracy.

My play style resulted in to many painful misses otherwise. I do love the 100mm punch but the reload/inaccuracy tended to force me to stay still (for better aim and reload time) for to long.

Once I know the position of enemies heaviest armor I flank it going for the mediums and lights first.
I use cover and maneuvering to get in a position that (if at all possible) allows only your current target to aim at you. If the target is occupied by another target then even better.
You can stop and take a couple of quick accurate shots. Then if cover is blown I move on even if the enemy isn't killed.

My strategy is to avoid becoming the main target by either moving, providing no target or at least a very difficult to hit target. As soon as the focus is on somebody else I can safely stop and shoot again.
If you do become a main target (especially arty target) I keep running till I am off their radar, change map positions and remain alert on who they focus on next.

Repair kit is a must for the tank to keep you going after a getting tracked(which usually happens with the first shot that hits you). If you are stopped by a shot you're dead unless it's something you can kill quick (consecutive tracking really ruins your day :))

Always stay kind of away from them until they get into a brawl, then you try to get up close to push the enemies back.
Not as easy on every map as it sounds, but it works quite well i've found when playing this solo.

On another note, 3 of these in a platoon with 100% crew, and 85mm gun can tear shit up. :P
