For you old timers out there that still remember what a book is for and have read his war books. Yup...Sven left us on the 21st of this month. I've read his first book at the age of 11 and I like it so much that by the age of 15 I was done with all his 14 books. He was the one that basically introduced me to WW2 tanks.

R.I.P. Sven Hassel

IMO he was one of the best pasifists. His first book is mostly historical and contains his real story. Other books are fictional. Please read the first book in his memory. Rip.

I have read all his books 5 or 6 times and I still enjoy them. I started again Legion of the Damned today.

Rest in peace Sven Hassel. May you find your Valhalla.

Sven is not dead, he is now a legend, and legends never die!.

only his physical body has passed away and his spirit is now free for a time, but his legacy will last the ages!.

Wow, ..I grew up reading his books. (Paper filled blocks, with lots of print on them, for the younger viewers).

The characters mean so much to me.
I see a few of his characters have made it onto various wargames I play online.
The Legionnaire, Porta, Tiny, The Old Man, Julius... ...great writer.

RIP Sven, I enjoyed your work sir.

All of his books are fictional. He said so himself. For starters, the 27th panzer reg. wasn't a penal unit.

Sad to see a good writer go, anyway.
