We’ve all witnessed the arrival of the 8.0 update. Now it’s time to report back on it to HQ – by sending us a postcard! You could even win gold.

500 Gold, Im pretty sure the post card is worth about that much.

Mark my words, they will have to change it again.

Cost of card and postage = 500 gold. Win = 500 gold

Seems legit to me :Smile-bajan2:

Well done.

Again with an announcement after the start....

Oh wait.... The "top secret" ninja editing gremlin terrorists :Smile_amazed:  have been at the calendar.

http://worldoftanks....tober-calendar/

Good job I have a pre-edit screenshot....

https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink

Pity the "top secret" ninja editing gremlin terrorists :Smile_amazed:  did not change the Tiger bonus credit amount in the post.

PS.

0.8.0 - just check your game client version....

Now u want me from Romania to send an envelope to France to arrive in less than 5 working days. The cost for such a delivery is 35 euros. And I might win 500 gold. Thank you Wargaming!

Is it also possible to give the card to a community moderator on firstlook? For the people that are there that spares a stamp

35 euros? And I thought it was way less than that. Well I guess we're out of the competition.

P.S. Wargaming, how about making a virtual postcard contest? Everyone can afford to participate for that.

this competition doesn't really make sense, we have to buy a postacard pay for the first class postage (to make sure it arrives in time)

to try and win only 500 gold...

wouldn't it be better to do it by email?

The idea is certainly good but seriously 500 gold gezz the sending expenses are much more then that not to mention going to the effort of making the card and then not even being sure if you will win, then again i`ll be preaty amazed if they manage to give out all the prizes on this contest :)

It should stay like that, because the idea is nice. But instead give

5500 Gold to 3 players

2500 Gold to 5 players

1500 Gold to 15 players

Seems reasonable to me

I'll add my 2 cents...

the announcement: Disappointing, but not surprising, the details of the contest were not posted before the originally announced start date. The community team did not even manage to post them on the first day of the contest. Instead they posted them on the afternoon of the 2nd day and quietly edited the calendar to make it look like they were only a few hours late.
the prize: 500 gold is equivalent to no more than 2.32€ (compared to the smallest package of 1500 gold for 6.95€). I think this will at best cover the cost of postage plus printing/painting the card, nevermind the hours/days of creative work behind them. On top of that, 500 gold won't buy much ingame.
the number of winners: 50 is a lot more than previous such contests, IIRC. That's good.
the selection of winners: Not specified (yet). "The best" can mean anything and I suspect it will. WGs creativity contests are not known for their transparancy and this may turn out as another instance of no specified criteria, no written judgements and no publication of said judgements.
the mode of participation: Sending real postcards across Europe has a real chance of the card getting lost or delayed beyond submission deadline. On the other hand, this method would allow to put all good cards1 in a centrifuge/drum2 and draw 50 cards at random [see above on selection of winners]

1 after removing cards that are against contest rules
2 that device used in real lotteries

I suggest you change this to be Digitally Uploaded.
The community will not appreciate the "physical" Effort of sending you guys a postcard - and the fact that many Mail Delivery Systems (IE, Royal Mail) may have a Knack for losing Cards or them getting misplaced.

You will also get better, and more contestants if you do it digitally - maybe upload a Template for us to send in our entries in so that they are "postcards"?

And maybe by using a Random Generator/ Algorithm can you randomly choose 50 entrants for Digital Copies?

As I and others have said: A digital contest is the best option for a prize so low compared to the work time and expenses we the players need to cover.

Hello,

Cpl. Hicks wrote a lot of true statements.

Rule number 6 : "Postcards arriving after the 16th of October cannot take part in the contest, regardless of the time stamp on the postcard"

French law does not work that way. For mailing, time stamp preval in France.
