Its top gun is also pretty similar to the 76mm M1A1 i.e. rubbish.

Let me clarify, 76mm, american M1A1 = Rubbish?

Are.You.Frigging.Kidding.Me?

Same gun that T49 has?

It might not be the uber derp gun, but it is about most lethal grinder in the tiers.
Vic rate of 60%ish and kill ratio of 1.6 with T49 might disagree...

By far the most effective gun, pzIII/IVs, T-34 zil-4s can take and shove it.

No, the M1A1 is the version mounted on the M4, the T49 has the AT Gun M1A1.  The M4 version fires slower, is less accurate and aims slower than the one fitted on the T49 and on the M4 is absolute crap.

This tank has exacully the same flaws as the A13 covenanter, crap armour that doesn't stand up to more than three shots before dead.

People talk about this tank as a flanker but you can't flank because the enemy are spread out and will kill you as you try to attack the rear of another.

Overall the entire british tank tree that I've tried has been crap. None of them can stand alone, which you will always end up doing. Their armour is crap so you die quickly but their guns do low damage so you can't kill them before they kill you. They don't work as scouts since the armour is too low to provide them with protection after detection. All they do is advance and die.

Then don't attack their flank when they're watching, wait some time, peek over a hill for a quick shot some times, later in the game is where this tank shines.

I want a british tank that you can scout in, make a few sweep, spot enemies then retire. Taking a few hits but surving. The british fail at this.

I've tried peeking over hills but the enemy are useully aimed at me and kill me as I'm withdrawing. Occasionlly I get into an open flank but then I can't do anything against the heavy tanks and have to leg it away. I'm grinding my way towards the top gun (nearly got the second turret) but these tanks aren't fun. I'm really thinking of giving up.

Ah, ok!
Both apparently are M1A1s so got confused...
Was wondering how any player can hate the T49s gun...that would be like...um...weird to extreme.

Come on, the tank is not that bad.
Played 7 games with it yesterday. 7 Wins. 11 tanks killed, much more damaged. Lots of players underestimate this little bugger and its quite nice to troll around with it. It seems lots of player didnt turn off the Ricochet-Mode (dont know how its called in english). So an impact every 2 seconds prevents them from aiming at you  :Smile-bajan2:
Its a nice "special" tank to have fun with. Cant wait to get the Cromwell  :Smile_trollface-3:

I came up against 2 of them yesterday, alone my VK3601H and got absolutely ripped to pieces. Got tracked in the open in the first shot, then a never ending barrage of hits, the tank never stopped shaking while I managed 3 shots before exploding. Just scary.
After action reported I was hit 20 times in all, I dont know who else hit me, but those 2 Crusaders landed most of them, and all of the critical ones....

I really don't understand how anyone can like this shit box. As far as I can tell it literally doesn't do anything well.

Its not particularly quick but also has absolutely no armour. It's gun is just outright bad. Although the DPM isnt too bad it has low accuracy, low penetration, a long aim time and the worst movement dispersion I've ever seen. Even nudging forward a few feet blows the aiming circle out as wide as it will go.
You have good depression but because you have no turret armour it won't actually save you and because of the accuracy problem sits not like you can even nip forward, let off a shot and then go turret down.

So far the only thing it seems to do well is sit in a bush with camo net and binocs and passive scout. Just make sure not to bother firing your gun. Or moving. You know, any of the things that make a tank fun to drive.

Oh yeah. No loader so any crew damage results in ruined reload times.

I find the crusader to be fairly decent but not especially well suited its role as a medium. Its like a second line scout/support tank and is ok with the top gun. I wouldnt say i particually love it but i dont find it horrible to drive either.

One thing is clear on the Cruiser line for the Brits. They are TEAM tanks and need to be part of a similar group to perform best, to me thats the way all medium tanks should be but we never have enough mediums in-game for Randoms.

Perhaps now we do have, yes I know this is a light Cruiser but its essentially a light to medium tank. You just have to have another one with you or a French light to follow.

Had a couple of good matches when I followed friendly AMX12's. Sure you don't have the speed to really keep up but I managed to keep within 70m of him so could support him as we went.

JUST DON'T STOP MOVING!!

if it had better topspeed, a better gun or even some sort of turret armor it might work. i still cant see how this bugger is on the same tier as a Pz4

The gun seems to be pretty accurate on the move, definitely plays better if you don't try and stop

You have to play this tank aggressively. I have made that mistake several times - you stop moving you are usually dead unless you are passive spotting *yawwn** Moving it is hard to hit and as it acts as a light it keeps its camo rating, if you are then your dead, move along nothing to see here. if you get another crusader you can play t50 peek a boo and muller some rather large tanks :)

When I got the tank I actually hated it! Now, after dozens of battles, with the top gun unlocked and after finding the way how to play it I'm starting to like it. I can compare its playstyle to M47 Patton but on tier V. Staying hidden, abusing gun depression, flanking and trolling from behind. That's the way how to do it. And yes, don't get hit.

I mounted vents, e.g.l.d. and rammer I had spare in the garage and the rate of fire is just crazy now. But I do understand that not everybody wants to mount stuff worth 700k on a tier V tank.

I just started grinding it. The stock gun is totally useless. Just play with the Howitzer (it is quite fun).

And I get tier 7 battles at most. I don't remember seeing a tier 8 tank.
