Hi!

Today I did quite some battles with my SU-26 to test gold ammo. I bought 8 shells to deal mostly with KVs. What this short test has shown is heavies don't really need to be really scared of premium shells from SU-26.

In about 26 gold shots fired:
- 7 were plain misses,
- 3 were bounce-offs,
- 9 were 0-dmg hits and
- only 7 did damage.

The most telling was a battle in Ensk where I was bombarding a KV-1's frontal armor (the only thing I could hit, because it was directly facing me). I spent all 8 shells to bring it down, ALL 8 shots were direct hits, but only 3 did damage. Similar things happened with other tanks: if I've hit them in frontal armor, most hits were 0-dmg hits or in some rare cases  deflected.

Conclusion? Things are as usual: gold shells wil be used only as a last resort when all else fails.

why were you aiming at the frontal armour?? turret roof or rear is less armoured.

My Pzkpfw 4 with the 105mm likes KV's now, especially KV-1's.

At 350 meters, when aim circle is as big as a KV, I really don't have a chance to aim at anything ...

I just aimed at their rear and did full damage every time I hit...of course I missed a few times, but with second skill on my Su-26 crew it doesn't happen that often.
All in all I won a few battles I usually wouldn't be able to contribute to,mainly because I took out a lot of high tier heavy tanks.
Conclusion: premium ammo on SU-26 -->>very helpful.

tried gold amo on the Su 26 B4 just for the fun, have to say I got more non Damage hits with them then with the normal explosive .... OK IF the get true the armour its more damage then normal "expensive" HE but it was not worth it at all. Anyway as Su26 U better dont shoot an KV font anyway ....u realy need to get lucky to deal soem good damage.

Tbh KV1 along with BP are the only vehicles that can make some problems to SU26 gold ammo. Try gold ammo on any of the T6 tanks and youll see where the problem is. Ive done some testing too and ive managed to win 15 battles in a row on the test server with only a few gold shells per battle used only on T6 and in critical situations. I could also show you some people with 95% WR on Su-26. Gold rounds are just op in that little arty.

Way back when people were whining about SU-26 with gold ammo will be ridiculous because it's already OP, I said that the gold ammo for it is rubbish because I'd already tried it as an experiment way back, it doesn't have enough pen to be useful IMHO. The SU-5 benefits from it nicely, but not the SU-26.

Nemoj zajebavati,kad bih precesljao liste i screenshotove koje sam zabelezio mogao bih ti naci bar 10 ovakvih, zajednicko im je da imaju skoro 100% WR na SU26 a overall WR 50%. Takodje sam ga i sam testirao da potkrepim sumnje. To sto volis tenkic ne znaci da nije OP,volim ga i ja.

Translation: Give me a break,if i checked all the data and screenshots Ive collected so far, i could find you 10 more players like this one. They all have almost 100% WR on SU26 and 50% average WR.I even did some tests myself to confirm that. Fact you love this tank doesn't make its OP status prettier,I love that tank too.

It can kill T6 with 3 shots,and a platoon of them can kill T6 in under 10s,combined on the battlefield its worse experience  than 8 arties per side in T10 battles(EDIT: Forgot to mention it can lob shot almost every rock,hill and even some buildings, so there's actually no escape if you're pinned at spot or slow,only thing that saves you is out of range status).

If you ever played junior company  against a clan you might notice they always have at least 2 Su-26. There's a reason for that, and it ain't because the tank looks cool...

Seems you haven't tested it enough. Right now, as it is, with gold ammo, team with a SU-26 wins, no exceptions. Not to mention it pretty much one shots Tier 5 and under, Tier 6 doesn't pose much of a problem ether.

If it's so OP why do you only have a 50% win ratio with it? You may not like it but the truth is the gold ammo pen for SU-26 is not enough for it to be pure win mode, I know because I've tested it. I wasted 10 gold shells in one battle alone, all on the same two KVs and killed neither of them.

Yep, it seems you're right. 2k avg dmg in tier 4-6 games is nothing to worry about. Surely not op.

Each of those games cost me 40k+ credits though, so it's not like you can keep shooting gold all day long. (except if you play every other game with any tier 8 premium)

Iv been using my SU-26 with prem rounds and all i can say is being able to destroy tier 6 heavys in 2 or 3 shots is funny, where as just a few days ago all you got was bounce bounce and more bounces.

You've said it yourself.. KV is probably only vehicle along with Matilda BP which has some resistance,if he was at some nice angle you could have shot all your shells without significant damage. All other heavy and medium vehicles are just taking it like a pro,not to mention TDs T5-1 shot,T6 1-2 shots.

Try to use gold only on T6 and some T5 vehicles if you're willing to do some more testing,i think you shouldn't have problems to maintain that amount of gold with 3-4 battles in T8 premium per day.

Exactly what im saying. Now imagine a platoon   If i had time to play I would have gladly re bought su26 and tested those platoons out with some of you,even thou i don't have Russian arty crew anymore. Call me when next test server goes out.

Have you got the actual figures to hand? Going roughly on average damage and your hit ratio I'd guess at 10, 13 and 16 shells respectively; or 40k, 52k and 64k. And that's for you as a good player, presumably with a decent crew and equipment -- I'm not sure JoeAverage_1992, even with his Premium account, will be quite so keen to lose >30k a game on a tank he's just passing through! (And don't forget he'll be earning less money than before with his tier VIII Premium if everyone is using gold ammo now...)

Yeah, there's going to be lot of trolling over the next few days as people try out their options. After that there'll be a few people who decide to use a lot of Premium ammo and not care about the cost, some who will make smart choices depending on the situation, most won't bother with it much. But let's see what happens across the game as a whole rather than over a handful of battles from one good player.

You can add a few shots to those numbers since most kill shots didn't do avg shell dmg + 0 dmg hits to tracks etc. I think I had only 4 shells left in the 8 kill game so shot 24. I can still make up for that cost by playing 1 game with type 59. Obviously not every su-26 is going to be shooting gold or hitting as much as I did on those games, but when experienced players go troll in low tier games, it's quite game breaking. Same goes for almost all howitzer type guns in the game. Also had a 10 kill match with tier 3 T82. I dont think the opposing team enjoyed it that much, when I could one shot every single enemy tank with 350dmg/150pen.

This is getting ridiculous!  
So many 0-dmg hits as I'm making now with gold shells I don't remember having in all my time in WoT. Today's three games:

• 7 shells fired, one (1) did damage (killded SU-100 through front armor), one bounced off the side od T150, rest were 0-damage hits to T-150's side and SU-100's front.
  
• 6 shells fired at KV-1's side and rear, while he was driving to our flag. One (1) did damage, one missed, rest was 0-dmg hits. One hit at our flag DID NOT RESET CAP.
  
• 4 hits at two KV-1s directly in their rear - 0 damage done.

What I've also noticed is I'm doing full damage with gold ammo only on low-armored targets, for which I don't need gold ammo.

What's going on?

Tbh ive tested Su-26 on test server, but not on the latest, maybe few months ago and i know i was opening threads it is OP. Maybe they've done some silent nerf in the new version(i never bounced so much as you are obviously). even if they've done a nerf which would be a well deserved one there is no way to prove it by players sadly.

All in all if they've done silent nerf and data you're collecting is good im happy.


EDIT: Ive tested su152 with gold ammo and what is quite funny gold ammo in it tends to ding on some places where AP goes through smoothly, maybe they've added some more "factors" into the update.
