I'm confused as to why the Pom Pom is ranked a Tier 4 gun when it has the same damage specs as the QF (Tier 3), lower rate of fire, lower accuracy and lower penetration than the QF 2Prd!

Am I missing something?

Pom pom in this tank is like French magazine gun. Tthat's why. :)
Later it will be like BESA gun.

For the epic name of course.

It's really due to the magazine, allowing multiple shots before the reload.

Got that now, just bought it.  Having 4 shots in quick succession is useful, even if the overall rate of fire is lower :)

It is an epic name!

This is precisely why I'm getting it. I don't care whether it is actually any good or not, it already is my favourite gun ingame.

Consider not getting it. Played with both in a few matches. Higher pen not using pom pom  ;)

In the A13 MKI Pom Pom is the way to go - you don't need the penetration, however I just discovered the hard way that in the A13 MKII you need the 2 pounder (until you research the '40mm') as you're now mainly against tier 4 and 5 - pom pom is bounce bounce, where as with the base gun at least you have a chance of hurting

For same reason I do way better with the QF.2pdr.

I hardly hit anything with the Pom Pom or the QF 40mm, every time you unload a shell the aiming cicle blows up like you wouldn't believe and even point blank shoots go wildly missing.

At least on the Pom Pom you can wait between shoots until your aim is back (negating completely the supposedly rate of fire) on the QF 40mm however, everytime you shoot you shoot 2 rounds and no matter the distance, no matter how good you aim the second round almost always goes on vacation somewhere.

In short, the magazine guns on the british tanks are fun, but completely situational, very temperamental and overall crap imho. Had some ridicolously good games with them only matched by even more absolutely horrible ones where I couldn't hit the side of a barn from 20m.

U have to be very steady when u click the mouse. If you jerk as u fire the second shot misses.

The magazine guns are more of a close range weapon, up close the aim time is almost pointless and you can put out 200 damage in a few seconds, killing most tanks you come across. Mostly it comes to what playstyle you like more, the 2pdr is a more stable long range weapon where the pom pom is a close range burst weapon.

For me, it's the pom pom all the way. You can hit even in longer ranges if you need to and it's just so much fun tearing tanks apart with it.

That was true maybe for the first two days, now that the bulk has moved on to higher tier tanks you regularily come across enemys with far more than 200 hp.

Now I am not saying it is "bad", it is an interesting gun for sure but it isn't exactly overpowered simply because it's highly situational. It certainly wouldn't hurt if the second automatic shot wouldn't go so wild most of the time.

Pom pom in a tier 2 tank is very fun! Shoot enemy 4 times then hide to reload. Win!

I used the QF 2pdr. Hate wasting shots with burst firing guns.

The 2 pdr was great for the tank and MM. If I was thrown in t5/6 games, just loaded premium ammo and chipped the high tiers.

Tho crusader though is kinda bad.

On A13 mk.I the Pom Pom has 4 shot clip shot individually. It's arguably OP, as full clip can kill equal tier tank in one 2.5 second burst and the reload isn't really long - I never really had to hide, because enemy was dead after 1 clip, and it reloaded so fast I would then lose time aiming if I hid myself for reload.

On tier, the pom pom is the gun to get.

If you do manage to ambush the enemy, you can kill almost any tier 2 tank with four well-aimed shots in a single salvo. The Pom-Pom is the gun that made the A13 MK1 my new favourite tier 2 tank.
