Its the slowest, biggest and easiest to kill of all the tier 4 and 5 light tanks

Accuracy on the move is OK, but not that great. the gun isn't that good either.
The M7 is a way better scout tank

... the gun is the best out of the T5 light guns, you can reliable dmg up to T8 tanks from the side and rear (others cant). That alone makes it a winner.

I think you might have accidentally unlocked the Pershing on the test server. The Chaffee sucks and would never be able to damage anything above tier6. :Smile-hiding:

reading this topic i can undesterd I got an idea of wath is it the m 24 chaffe without ever having play whit it.

its not very fast, 56 km/h its like a medium and acceleration its poor but,the huge agility and fast gun can seriously damage very quickly a huge tier tank destroyer or heavy tank in 1 vs 1 or snipe it form distance!

its like a little medium run forward find a good bush spot some enemy shot them and run away to another bush spot other enewy and PEW PEW PEW RUNN!
this tank is not worked like A-20 or t50-2 to run around  the map searching TD dodging AP and HEAT shell... i THINK( rember i THINK) this tank worked to stay whit some heavy forward some meter and spot some tank staying in a bush  :Smile-hiding:

and... its very similar to the easy8 and i love my easy8 not very fast and poor acceleration but agile and fun gun :Smile-izmena:

They dont give a crap about the EU/US feedback anyway. onlything that counts is the russian feed back. So better learn russian and post there.

Which is completely insane since EU/US community spends far more money. Russia has both much higher percentage of players who never pay, and gold is cheaper there (7e for 2500 gold)

I'm gonna get flamed for this a bit perhaps:

1) M24 is awesumsauce, don't get me wrong but:
2) It's the slowest T5 light and its penetration isn't THAT good for the tiers its gonna land in (which is 8+)
3) I had more fun in a T-50 and T-50-2.
4) I think the russian tanks are better suited for the New Way of Light(s)*

*Which is: "I can circle anything to death if you give me enough time and noone interferes".

In a lowly T-50 I managed to reliably and safely circle and kill T5 mediums. Never mind top speed, it's so NIMBLE. Keyboard controls are too imprecise for it, LOL, makes you wanna buy a steering wheel :D

With that said, in lower tier games M24 takes the cake. Tremendous damage output (for its tier) and really nice accuracy on the move more than make up for it being slightly sluggish comparing to other T5 Lights.

In short: Take a PZ IV with the L70. Make it as mobile as a PZIII. Fit it in a smaller chassis. Give it WTF view range and OMG firing rate.
There! Behold! The M24.

After some googling I have discovered that "Crazy turret that should be in '50es SF B-movie" was real. Early prototype of M41 walker bulldog light tank. With the huge rangefinder and side mounted MGs. Though I don't know if anyone ever tried to place that turret on Chaffee chaises. But its freaking real!

Yeah, it's the turret from T37. But it does seem tad too high. Or it might be that the scale is otherwise messed up, since even the barrel of the top gun seems ridiculously thick, about the same as the barrel on 90mm M3 infact.

Hahaha just killed a T30 (100% shot 2 times on fire) a ISU-152 a T34 and a tiger and scored my second Orlik... god i love that tank.

If this tank somehow makes it unchanged into the retail version i might even make the horrible m5 grind.

VK28 is waste of time apparently. We can't preemptively grind for T-50-2. So Chaffee is only real option.

It is a turret from T37 (prototype of M41 Walker Bulldog).

76 mm T94 is a gun of M41 Walker Bulldog

Looks peculiar. Basically Devs mixed M24 and M41.

I just wish we could have the great viewrange and the use of the 76mm gun with the stock turret, or a duplicate of the stock turret
It just makes the M24 such a huge target, and its butt ugly

I would actually like to see the M41 as T6 light tank... since we already got a T54 aka T55 with party form the 1960s I see no problem with a eraly 1950s design.

I am a medium tank lover, and you dont need a t-54 now to take out arty.. this is exelent!

Please explain to all of us how you did change the models. I love the tank, but my eyes bleed every time I see a M24 with 2nd turret.

Not hard at all, here goes:
  • Go to res/vehicles/american/A34_M24_Chaffee/normal/lod0 in your WOT test client directory.
  • Find the file named Turret_01.model and rename it to Turret_02*.model
  • Find the file named Turret_02.model and rename it to Turret_01.model
  • Finnaly rename the file Turret_02*.model to Turret_02.model
  • Start the game.

If all went well, the stock turret now looks like the $#%"% turret, and the upgraded one looks like the stock one
Enjoy :)
