I love the 3.7 on the A10.  Shooting long watching that shell go up and then Like a javilin smash down.  I can put the hurt on KV1's and chuchs and 1 shot any tier 3 or under.  This is my new favorite low tier tank.  I do also love arty so maybe thats way.

I have over 700 KV/152 matches under my belt, so you can say that I like big dumb HE Throwers.

But that gun, on the A10MkII........hell. Still better than the frenchies of course, but thats not really an achievement.

Aiming time is LONG, and I mean LONG. I'd bet that my S-51 203mm has a faster aiming time. And unless in a KV (even in a T9 Match), if you stand there aiming, bounces don't happen on A10.
Fire away, the shell flies s l o w l y in the general direction of the enemy, and with luck you hit. And true, if you manage to hit a SU-85b or similar weak tanks, you will be rewarded with a onehitkill.
Forget firing on moving targets, even if it's slow like a Valentine. Even stationary vehicles are very hard to hit.
A Panzer 3/4 or a KV-1S just laugh at your damage output.

Not to mention the tank itself, the A10 in my case, is without a doubt one of the worst T3s there is. Slow, no armor (my M3 Stuart bounces more, and it is a rocketship compared to the A10!), no outstanding viewrange/Gun depression and a gun that works best in close quarters - where the lack of agility and armor are evolving into real issues.
First tank since the AMX40 that I skipped with FreeXP after a few matches with the Howitzer. I had one of those "kill from the grave" as well, but I prefer to live and shoot again, so thats not really a motivation for me ;)
If that gun would be mounted on a T3 tank that actually works, I think it would be a lot better. But "The KV-2 of low tiers" it isn't...

Last night had a 7 kill game.  It was me V 3 (2 spgs and an TD).  1 shot each one for the win.  Love this tank.
The spg's aim faster

The trajectory of the shell is a bit like the HE gun on the T82 USA TD vehicle.

It just takes a bit of getting used to.   The time that it takes the shell to get where it's going makes shooting at moving targets a challenge (to say the least).....

I don't recall the other HE guns having the same trajectory and delay - but I may just have a bad memory....

It does take some getting used to, but it's very satisfying nailing some one with it from across the map.
3.7" on the A10 has a rainbow like trajectory to but that's because it's really a mortar (WG screwed up calling it a howitzer)

I've found it pretty useless just take far to long to aim and time isn't a luxury you can afford in a tank that gets ripped to pieces by autocannons.

I am so impressed with this tank.  More the gun than the tank.   Last night I killed a T1 us heavy, broad side first shot 125, second shot 425 WOW, third shot finished him off.  I also killed a hertz with 2 most of the time I can 1 shoot them.   And at the end I 1 shot there T57 arty.  I have the crew at 100% and 78% on first perk.  This gun maybe the answer we are looking for, for close arty support.  Like the SU-26, SU-5 and the bison this gun and hopefully more like it would be a good alternative to artillery on some maps.

I love playing artillery almost to my tier 8’s but this 3.7 howitzer is just fun.

The howitzer you guys are speaking of is quite good, the one mentioned by OP is Terrible.
Mk. I 3" howitzer have stats like this. 38/100 penetration 175/110 damage  This is a bad joke from WG and not really great stats for a derp ;) Without gold ammo I do around 5-25 damage if I actually manage to hit, no JOKE.

The 3 inch howitzer is horrible. The 3.7 inch howitzer is quite good.

This one is a real killer on that tier, but it's lightning fast compared to the 3" howitzer  :Smile_veryhappy:

I quite like it now, you need to adapt the playstyle to stay back and lob off a few shots. I've even been accused of having gold ammo. It needs to start aiming sooner, I've even spent 500k on a Gun Laying Drive on it just to get it aim a bit quicker. The problem isn't so much the long aiming time, it's the time it takes to actually START aiming. The reticle just sits there... and sits there... and sits there... then tightens. If they could reduce that a bit it'd be a better gun, but it's not likely to happen any time this side of the universe collapsing.

That sounds like a crew issue.  What % is your gunner?

Yeah, its quite funny. Just a few moments ago I destroyed an A10 at about 300m. I said "whoosh, good he didn't shoot me" and then some seconds later BOOOM, oneshotted....by non other than HIM! That shell really took its time! :)

I will start calling that "post-mortem trolling"  :Smile_trollface-3:  :Smile_teethhappy:
I like hiding behind hills and using 3rd person to auto aim on a target, then go into sniper mode to watch the shell fly in a graceful arc over the hill and land on his roof. Accusations abound. :Smile_trollface-3:

I once hit a hetzer going full speed from half way accross the map with one of these nd killed it with 1 hit.. so its not impossible to hit moving targets just very very hard LOL..

Still it got a bit annoying to use so switched back to the other weapons..

Quite a "roll of the dice" gun.

One game you can get 5+ kills, next you can only hit diddly squat.

I use in the convenanter, the other day I killed a KV with it (distance was about 400m and the flight time was a good 3 seconds  :Smile_trollface-3: ). It is very funny in games where there is no arty, because if you pick the right spot, you become the arty (sort of). In a game I killed to T-28's and a hetzer by shooting over a small hill. the shells fell down on them almost vertically, so they all went up instantly :Smile_trollface-3:

3.7" on the A10 has a rainbow like trajectory to but that's because it's really a mortar (WG screwed up calling it a howitzer)

Quote

Tank, Cruiser, Mk IIA CS (A10 Mk IA CS)

Had a 3.7" (94 mm) howitzer in the turret instead of the 2 pdr. The standard ammunition load was 40 rounds smoke, and a few HE shells. The CS denotes Close Support.

This weapon was derived from a World War I field howitzer. It was not related to the 3in howitzer used in later British tanks in World War II, which was itself replaced by a 95mm howitzer in the later versions of the Churchill infantry tanks and all CS versions of the Centaur and Cromwell cruiser tanks. British doctrine was that the CS tank was to provide smoke cover in advances or retreats and hence many more smoke rounds were carried than HE.[5]
It is a howitzer, but like the old (mostly static) howitzers, it had a much lower shell velocity than the 3" howitzer and the 95mm howitzer. Hence the insane trajectory. (It was designed for really short range after all)

Cruiser mk ii with the howitzer is my favourite tank at the moment. I had a 7 kill game a couple of days ago.

Once you get used to how the gun performs and the fact you have to camp corners its brilliant.

With camo and net its brilliant. Cant wait for perks, its going to be epic.

Just wait for some tier 4 to come round a corner and kill him, fall back to next corner and do the same to his friend, fall back again kill the next one.  Sure tier 5 heavies will survive but you are dumb as hell if you are trying to take them on yourself rather than picking them off while they are fighting one of your team mates.  In open maps life is tough, but using the shells crazy arc to pop guys hiding behind rocks is hilarious and gets more "hacker" cries than anything else i know of.
