My buddy and I are wondering why the T2 Medium would be played over the M2 Light.

The M2 Light has thicker armor, moves faster, 10 less hp (160 total) and can use the same M5 37mm gun.

The only positive we see that the T2 Medium has over the M2 Light is that it can buy the Tank Rammer for -10% load time.

Other than being a target for everyone with the double hash rather than a triangle; what reason would a player select the T2 Medium over the M2 Light?

To get to heavy line. Only reason. Although the biggest gun gives a few LOL moments.

75mm HE. Pwns everything! Except VK4502 Ausf. B. Just trust me on that. Does do some nice damage to the top of an IS-4 though.  :Smile_great:

That 75mm is a BIG advantage.  I played 13 battles with my M2 medium and won 12 of them.  It's a great gun for softening up the enemy.

Cheers,

Logan

I also recommend the 75 mm for the T2 Medium, with HE if you can swing it.

Maybe try playing the T2 Medium like a Light, for scouting and arty destroying?

First post. Nice forums.

The 75mm with HE makes the M2 the BIG fish in most battles as it can one shot almost all tier 3 or worse tanks and owns all the tier 2 tanks.

You need to work out the guns shot speed and learn to get rid of auto aim, but once learned it is one of the most fun tanks in the game

and yea - it can really annoy the big boys if you get behind them - the 75mm HE is a beast!!!

The M2 Med has a big more turret armor too, but you guys are quite right... the T2 Med looks stronger in most every way. As to the "why" of things, I suspect that the devs added the final gun upgrade to the T2 after they had already picked the specs and didn't really worry too much about balancing.

I cant understand why the T2 Medium is considered a Medium tank at all. Only wights 4tons more than the M2 Light.
And the M2 Light got more armor.
Well it's a new tank so be greatfull for that.
In the end it dosent really matter cuz u're only gonna play 30matches with it maximum until you change tank.

The M2 Light is by far the best light tank in the lower tiers.

- It's the second fasted only to the BT-2
- It's armor is nearly comprable to the lowest tier medium tanks and deflects a lot of shots that they don't
- The fully upgraded gun punches through most tanks in three shots. That plus the mobility makes it deadly

I average about 4 kills a game when I use that tank and win roughly 70% of the matches I play it in. Overall, I highly reccommend this tank to the new and pros who want to do low tier work.

Compare that Kill per match number to my others...

AT-1 Tank Destroyer: 2 kills per game
T2 Medium: 2 kills per game
M5 Stuart: 0 kills... why is it in that heavy tier...
T1 Cunningham: 2 kills per game

Yup i also found that the M2 light is really the tier 2 king, i kept one in my garage just to pwn noobs from time to time when i get frustrated from higher tier battle noobs on my team.

Then what about the M3 "giant weakspot" Lee... I admire american heavy tank drivers since they had to pass trough a lot of crappy tanks to get their (somewhat) good tank at tier 6-7... The T2 med is a favorite target of mine. Havent drived it yet (i'm mostly german/russian pilot) and idk yet if i ever will, but i'll probably wanna test american heavy when i got all the tanks i wish, wich is faaaaaaaar from being accomplished yet.

About M2 light vs T2 med, unless it tracks me and repair box already used, i alway win, unless i'm already badly damaged or under heavy fire...

Edit: i finally tested the t2 med crap erm tank... Its pure crap, as i expected... No good armor, no good gun, no good speed... M2 light tank definetely won, by far... Needless to say i drove a fully upgraded T2 med crap, not a stock one (cant even imagine doing it ^^)

I started off not really liking the M2 but after getting more experience with it, it's a lot like it's Russian counter part in all ways, but I prefer it's big gun as to me it seems a lot more accurate, especially over range. I decided to switch to the American tanks as I really love the unique look they have despite them being usually being worse than the Russian ones.

Edit: Meh my bad, I'm talking about the M2 Medium sorry.

You do realize that M2 Light can go into med route?  You guys are talking about M2 Med, not T2 Med.  :Smile-hiding:

To be honest, I find T2 Med absolutely worthless comparing to M2 Light since it has...98% of advantage compare to T2 Med...I am not sure what's the point of that tank...
same here :D

M2 medium (damn yankees and their absurd classification standards...) can use the semi-auto 37 mm, that gives it a serious edge in close combat over the light M2. just this. in every other aspect is much worse...
