So, who'd win this epic fight?

On one hand you have the Atlas battlemech from the Mechwarrior universe

Posted Image

100 tons of pure awesomeness and destructive power, one of the mightiest mechs and one of the icons of the Mechwarrior franchise.

And who is the opponent?

Warhound class Titan from Warhammer 40k, the death incarnate. More than 4 times the weight, yet similiar size and possibly even firepower. Which one would win, and why?

I take my 'ol cougar.
Best mech after all. :Smile_glasses:

But I say the Warhound wins, 'cause if he don't, the Imperium of Man would bomb the plante, under the feet of the Atlas, away.

(just my opinion)

After reading Titanicus I have a huge respect for the Warhounds and how they operate.  What you really should be asking is an Atlas vs 2 Warhounds. For that It's say it's GG and Goodnight to the Atlas. It would be toast.

A lot would depend on the terrain and also depend on the Warhound armament  Say it's in a city and if the Warhound is set up for armour stalking with a Plasma Blastgun and Turbo Laser Destructor, it's not looking good for the Atlas. With no Shields and really crappy maneuvering the Atlas would be in a lot of trouble.

I'm a Steiner fanboy myself, but Warhound Titan's are awesome. I still plan to buy one from Forge World along with a Thunderbolt Fighter Bomber.  Again a favorite vehicle due to a book called "Double Eagle"

Also Lucius Pattern sucks. It's all about Mars Pattern when it comes to Warhounds.

The Atlas would lose either way... even if he would destroy the Warhound, the Imperial Army would strike with an orbital bombardement... and if that fails they would simply blow up the whole damn planet... they are not picky about how to destroy an enemy...

I would have to say that the Atlas would win hands down. The wArhound simply does not have the range nor the anti armour weaponry to be effective before the Atlas could rip it apart.. this is of course open to debate.. what weapons would the atlas be carrying... no doubt a heavy gauss would be enough...

Looks like we have a coinesseur :) Generally I prefer Warlords, first I wanted to match the Atlas to a Warlord but then I did read that Atlas is only 100 tons, so a Warlord would just roflstomp over it. Truth to be told tho, I think Abnett uses wrong ratio, there is no way a Warlord is only 30 meters tall and the fluff around the size of the Titans is quite inconsistent. Warhound size - that I believe is correct. Titanicus is great (even though I generally prefer Imperial guard), reading Double Eagle now, along with the Eisenhorn trilogy.

My favourite vehicle however is a Shadowsword...

I played mechwarrior some time ago, and atlas was meh imo. Daishi is more versatile - you can make so many variants...
My fav:
Spoiler
+ advanced gyro and 11 heatsinks. Great for cqb.
