If you see it as a way to get attention for certain topics rather than actually doing anything directly, it's not a wrong thing, if you ask me.


All those protests against rape (and more directly: rapists) won't be of any use as long as certain social/cultural structures within parts of the Indian society aren't changed. How do you expect an end to violation of women when they aren't considered equal to men and the corpus delicti of rape more a question of honor than of basic human and individual rights?
I don't want to impute such a kind of view to all of the Indians, but this is something that even blooms in so-called "modern and civilized western" nations, last but not least in the shape of machismo culture.
