Master

Guys new to this so apologies and no wise cracks please.

I'm keen on using XVM and have been struggling to download a copy and then configure.

This package seems to install for novices like me.

To install the XVM for the first time do I simply click on the link on page one of this thread?

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you.

Yes, then you'll get an .exe file in your 'Downloads' folder, double-click on it then press 'Yes' to the security warning and XVM Updater window will pop. Simply click on 'Install / Update'.

Thanks a lot LaCourgette for this amazing updater for XVM + J1mBO's crosshair. Used to take me a good 20min to update before, and now it's done in 2min :)

would be interesting to know if it would be possible to add an option to install the latest nightly build without any changes to config/crosshair and stuff.

It's possible but these versions aren't really stable so I don't know if it's a good idea to provide an easy installation of the latest nightly build.

Also, it needs some change in the executable, not only on my server so I have to release a new version of my app in order to let you install the very latest build.

If a lot of people want it, I may consider implementing this in the next version of XVM Updater.

Another option is to have the two solution!

The default XVM configuration displays xWN (scaled WN6, from 0 to XX, which place your rating amongst the player base), to display raw WN simply launch XVM Updater again but select 'Default with WN6' configuration before clicking on 'Install / Update'.

Same old story, updating all the players on XVM servers takes a very long time due to a new WG limitation: 4 player profile per second and they have millions of account to update. So currently, the complete update takes approx. 3 weeks and there is nothing I or the XVM team could do unfortunately.

so should i expect my xvm to basically update any moment now, i guess i'll jump up in terms of wn6 since its so outdated

Yes, your stats should be updated in some days. I'm not sure if you'll get 62 xWN from 61 because it's scaled and it depends of the formula.

Try to compute your ratings on WoT-News, you'll get a more precise answer.

Is there a config which uses wn8 rating?

Wow, thanks so much for your hard work on this. Struggled to download it previously but even I can press one button! I chose to download the pack with Jimbos Crosshair as well, which I also wanted. Just one thing, I would love an option to show the player's name above the tanks, rather thank just the tank type. Is there any way I can do this easily (I am not technically minded). Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated. Again, thanks so much for this!

Is Wargaming going to change that anywhere in the near future? And why did they change it anyway?

I prefer waiting for the final implementation of the {{wn8}} macro before including a ready-to-use WN8 config in XVM Updater. However, you can find a few configs using WN8 in that section, like this one:

http://forum.worldoftanks.eu/index.php?/topic/337262-0810-xvm-config-by-bones-wwn8/

(you need to select 'Last Nightly' version in XVM Updater before installing a WN8 config)

You have change "useStandardMarkers": false into "useStandardMarkers": true in xvm.xc in your WoT folder > res_mods > xvm or in res_mods\xvm\configs\@Default\battle.xc if you are using the default config. Don't remove the comma at the end of the line.

I'll look at this issue, must be a XVM server problem.

They changed it because the load of their service record servers was too high, but I think they are disposed to upgrade the limit:
