Good morning gamers

im guessing many of you have heard about War Thunder, the new MMO from Gaijin, well it might be new to you but im sure its a real shock to WG as it has completely knocked WOWP of the market, hopefully they will just cancel and try to quickly get WOWS out asap, or risk losing that project too as WT launches the fleet soon, but this isnt me blowing smoke in any one companies a**e but one must ask WG how did you cock up and allow this company to give you such a smack to the chops? lets look at the two.

WOT modes - random - defend/assault, encounter, standard modes, platoons, tank companies, clanwars.

WT modes- random, assault, capture, defend, escort, historic battles, scenario battles, campaign battles, platoons, custom battles, squadrons, army, fleet battles, tank battles, training rooms, single player against AI clanwars(global) and most importantly garage battles! oh and not to mention weather such as rain and night battles comming soon

yes they have garage battles, you select your 5 planes and when one dies the next is available, usually a lower or higher tier depending on your tactics. now we have been asking for a long time for this, and its always ready when its ready sort of answer, well you've been beaten to the post here im afraid.

WOT maps - the usual 1000 x 1000 being the biggest
WT maps    about 100 and still counting many at 15km x 15km (yes its aviation based but will include ground/naval units soon)

Units and tech trees

WOT - Britain (1/2), Germany, USSR x 2, France. US with proposed Japanese and European trees done when its done

WT - UK and Commonwealth, US, Germany, Italy, USSR, Japan, with 5000 types of air unit to be ready for release..yes 5000! and that's not including the fleet or tanks.

Premium, both have premium accounts, WT are cheaper, and you can take the planes out for a test flight to see how they handle before buying.
Rewards, both have rewards, it WOT you get a medal in you garage, in WT it unlocks new decals, logos, gives exp and even a bit of gold (eagles)

Computing stuff, - very similar here, WT offers Mulitcore support and PC too MAC play

Forum stuff, very similar in look and feel, there one ist moderated, which has its ups and downs, less censorship but more insults i guess

CONCLUSION: WOT is THE tank game (as it stands) but for options and re-playability im leaning towards WT, i love tanks so wont give up here, but i think its a pity WG have missed so many points that have been asked for and let a rival take those ideas and implement them, so please WG drop WOWP, you've lost here hands down, don't divert resources to an obsolete notion, get WOWS out asap, and look what Gaijin have done and try to implement them, you now have a market competitor and they are not to be trifled with - chop chop

edit: hopefully WG wont just delete this post as it will show intolerance to free speech/text, but instead take it as constructive criticism, and reply with how they are going to rival this competitor?

We don't deleted it, however...

There is existing threads on the WoWP forums already where the discussion is quite active with a variety of reviews from people playing both games.

WG do not care about community

"Buy gold ,and we will add new premium tanks and make premium-account based events, to make you buy more and more gold", and then bancrupt and die become premiumnoob good at losing money on a betagame  which requires NASA computer :Smile_trollface-3:

Please avoid trolling, verbal warning this time

I wanted to have non-edited post mr. cDa !

When you see me say "the other company" in any post, I'm actually referring to the developers of that game, and that is the game I'm waiting for to get to the tanks part (this year hopefully).

That being said, you nailed it to hard in this topic for WG to accept it and it will get junked.
It will be considered advertising, I consider it a wake up call for WG.

This year marks the year you will not be alone in your monopoly of online tank games WG, so wake the **** up!

I just hope their gonna get hurt where it hurts the most: cha-ching ! $ !

P.S. You forgot one thing: that game looks 10x better than WoT/WoWp/WoBs. Their game engine is much better and newer.

Yeah but they don't have Serb  :Smile-bajan2:

I looked on their forums and couldn't see much about how their tanks will work etc so we will have to see.

Correct me if I am wrong but I've been told WT is more p2w than WoT because with RL-monies you can take 7 planes with you instead of 5(?) and can max out your crew skills which are more essential than on WOT with pure real cash if you want.

However I hope WT slams WoWP.

I've played War Thunder for a short while, emphasis on played - past tense. While, on a purely mechanical level, it's a really great game, the reason I'm not playing it right now is because of the absolutely horrific business model.

People might complain about WoT having some pay to win elements, but it's nothing compared to what goes on in War Thunder.

In War Thunder, the default game mode is like the planned garage battle mode for WoT, in which, when a player's vehicle is destroyed, they spawn in another vehicle that they own. The thing with War Thunder is, though, that the limit to how many times you can respawn is determined solely by how many planes you have in the hangar, and you can only expand you hangar past a certain point with, you guessed it, gold.

Speaking of gold, in WoT, you can train your crew to 100% major qualification using gold, but no further. In War Thunder, on the other hand, there is no limit. You can actually buy maxed-out crews.

In summation, unless Gaijin completely revise their business model, I won't be going anywhere near War Thunder.

The only p2w part is that 7 planes instead of 5. Otherwise everything can be grinded. However the difference between paying and non paying is HUGE. The crewskills in that game are far more important than in WoT and you can buy them really cheaply. I mean imagine buying all available skills for the whole crew for just 1000 gold. Without it it takes gazillion games to get into usable level.

Also the free XP conversion rates are ridiculous. Every game gives you some XP and like 10*XP as a convertable XP and it's almost free to convert. I mean imagine WoT where every game gives you like 500 XP and then 5000XP to be converted under the "Convert XP" tab, and it costs like 1 gold per 1000 xp to convert.

Been playing War Thunder for a few days and OH BOY this game is fun.

A lot of things I´m missing in WoT are already in there and it´s still just the Beta. If they get the tank and ship stuff right I´m leaving cause that is some epic scale right there.

Put too much time/money into WOT to look at another game right now.

Also, I care little for Warplanes. I am looking forward to Battleships though.

To be brutally honest wg has kinda screwed up here because the game could be 1000% better if they listened to us. x

Even if Im going to switch to another game, I cant just abandon WoT. Too much time and gold have been invested in account.
And I have closed beta to WoWP which I have played too, but WT looks much better.

Hmm, looks like we are comparing pears and apples here. Or even pears and similar size stones :-P

One is stable and popular game with plenty of world-wide users, other one is still-in-progress without even a possibility to test if the statements are true. (Anybody remember the War Z -fiasko?) Even Guild Wars looked better on paper than World of Warcraft - yet still even today there are millions players happily paying the monthly fee for WoW.

I welcome competition and hope it brings more action to WG as well. But I am not going to say which of the games is the best before the competitor is ready and playable to at least some comparison.

Cheers,
geekuma

PS: I wouldn't mind downing some airplanes and sinking some ships with my Löwe x-)

Edit: Added wiki-link to War Z.

@ OP. I admire your courage  :Smile_Default:

I must say that after playing both WOWP and WT, WT wins hands down. Not even touching WOWP again. As for tanks, I really enjoy WoT, but will definitely look at WT when they become available. It's a free market and I take my hard earned money where I want. If a company wants to hold on to my cash, then keep me interested and don't flog me like a dead horse for every penny I have.

It's going to be an interesting year for us WoT gamers. At least we will now have a choice so may the best company win. Where once we didn't have any sway over the WoT devs, maybe now they will take notice. Competition is great for business, but even greater for the gamers. I personally look forward to it. They have time, but it's running out fast so good luck to them.

Since the paying customers are the ones keeping WoT in the pound seats, then personally I'd like to see a little more (non-pay2win of course) incentives for premium account holders and paying customers.
