So, I just got the Type T-34 and I'm wondering, what would be better, the fast but weaker 5916 or the bit slower but also a bit stonger type 58?

Don't mind the heavy line, as it looks like the Soviet line and I already have heavy soviets.

I went for the 59-16 first. That truely is not the best tank there ever was, but after trying out the later light tanks on the test server I know those are nice tanks. I plan to go up the medium tree also eventually.

i tryed both tank and, in my personal opinion, better type 58; better MM, easy to use and to deal damage, or hp and the possibility to choose between heavy tank ( researching IS2) or medium tank (researching t.34.1). Also some modules of t58 are the same of the IS2 and T34.1.
T59.16 is too fragile and have a terrible MM (such as battle whith tier 9 and 10).
Also the gun sucks too much.
Perhaps, a lot of people in official forum said that the wz 131 (a tier after the 59-16) is very funny.
Personally i prefer t58 path.

N.B.: sorry for my horrible english ;)

Thats the point... I see the Type 58 is used a lot more than 59.
But in my eyes the WZ lights are very interesting too.
Think I will go for the 59 first and maybe after that the Type 58.

at higher tiers lights gain better guns, but the t6 light lacks a lot of penetration.

I have the Type 58 and I really like! it but at the end of the day it's up to you as to what tank you choose, you pay's your money and you takes your chose as the saying goes.

Given the fact that you have only 1.3k matches under your belt I'd recommend going trough medium line. Chinese high tier lights seem to be good tanks, but like all other high tier lights those require skill to be effective with. Mediums are much easier to stay alive with and require less situational awareness.

Personally I'm going trough mediums only due to having type-59 and well trained crew to use.

i played both of them and i have to admit the 59-16 requires a whole lot of experience to do his job well.
The Type 58 is quite easy to play, just like any other tank of that branch its made for flanking.
It has a high DPM which makes you able to fight Kv1s when you know how to get to their sides and rear

Just remember never to fight head on with that tank as your shots will bounce very often due to the low penetration of 128mm on top gun

I really wasn't looking forward to the terrible matchmaking that most light tanks get so i went for the type 58. Just had my first game in it and it seems pretty much like a t34-85 so I will probably like it.

I chose the medium path because I have the Type 59 and  can use my unretrained 4 skill crew to grind the med line. they are effective as 75% but its enough to grind it quickly. I will retrain them when I get to WZ-120

I just switched the crew over to med from light on re-training, there is no way I'm going to move this crew back to light again. So its meds first, I'll keep the T34 and unlock the light later.....

I disagree with the MM comment about t59.16: This tank shines in higher tier battles, making it a bit situation in it's use. The 59.16 is a LIGHT tank: it's supposed to die when going toe to toe with HEAVY tanks so don't. The gun will however mince a comparable tank such as the AMX 12t.

This tank requires other defensive and offensive skills than the usual know where to aim and angle. Keywords are patience and hiding.

I think Wargaming has a good quote, going something like this: "...if you play a light tank as a heavy you will soon be a smoking wreck..."

On a different note, the chinese version of the t34 and t34-85 are identical bar the fact that the russians have a bigger gun (no pun intended). Basicly a temptation to drop the free xp on skipping parts.

Hello,
I played the russian T34-85 months ago and it was a nice tank. So, I don't prefer the med line.
Now I want to try the chinese light tanks.
This is possible what the 59-16 can do and where its limits is set:
This was a nice match: http://mwreplays.com...y/KB0SNRS3ETPS/ (Youtube Link included)
Here we see the limits: http://mwreplays.com...y/YXGRYRHETXDI/
