+1 for my fav. tank so far :Smile_great:
But something bothers me..: "This tank was designed to be able to hit any enemy vehicle up to a kilometer away" Too bad the game mechanics cannot allow shooting on those distances, since you cannot see enemies on the 1 KM range, except with arty  :Smile_sceptic:  :Smile_confused:

In my opinion, 1VS1 the KT is one of the weakest Tier VIII Heavy tanks.

And I have 600+ games in KT.

The whole front of the tank is a weakspot these days. Even the upper hull is worthless in the face of gold ammo.

And one kilometre was fairly short range for the L/71, Tiger II crews have multiple reports of tank kills at much longer ranges. In 1944 a Tiger II crew registered a Sherman kill at over 3000 metres.

You obviously don't know how to play a KT.

I really love this video. It is a showcase for a couple of points which are completely screwed in the current WoT.
  • In the current setup, WoTs King Tiger is best suited for city fights. Sure, because all the distances are shrunk, such that tanks can close much faster.
  • I think when designing the King Tiger, it was not considered that any opponent could come as close as 0m, and would then be able to penetrate the upper glacis plate from his higher angle... in WWII, a single hit with any of the 88mm tank guns would probably disable any vehicle - facehugging + dancing tanks are an invention by Wargaming.
  • And even better: The King Tiger should stay away from open areas, because its speed is lacking. Sure, because in WoT arty is not only able to target individual tanks, but also to lead and hit targets.
In reality, a King Tiger in open territory was a beast. His long range, accurate gun, capable of destroying any tank within 2km with the first hit dominated other tanks of his time. The only threat would be to get immobilized, and then subsequently being killed by arty / aircraft. Consequently, immobilized King Tiger were destroyed if they could not be recovered immediately.

It would be better to call this WoT-tank not King Tiger, but something else - how about Lady Pussycat? Girls also like to roam the cities, especially if all shops are open...

"This tank was designed to be able to hit any enemy vehicle up to a kilometer away"

The guys at Wargaming really have a sense for (bad) jokes.

Whole German WWII tank tactics centered around engaging enemy at distance with superior and accurate firepower ("hitting them before they even get in position to return fire"). Armor was usually traded for mobility (blitzkrieg tactics) and it wasn't until late in war when they started adding significant armouring to their tanks. Hitting a tank at 1000m was a minimum norm required from tankers, and ace tankers (like Michael Wittman, Kurt Knispel, etc.) consistently scored hits/kills at 2000+m. And the record for longest distance tank kill is 3500m (also held by Germans, using 88mm gun).

It should have been:
"This tank was designed to be able to destroy any enemy vehicle of that time up to a kilometer away"

i really enjoy those vids... it (might) increase overall skill and tactics.

Yet it has a drawback...
1. TD pos with a KT? you are spotted soon and dead as dawn when arty got you in sight.

2. Those skills .. normally not worth a comment... but firefighting?
I got one extingusher... how often do i burn twice? once per 100 battles maybe thats acceptable.. so why bother with such useless skills :)

Its personal opinion what to take... but i would never take Firefighting with any crew...

I seldom get engine fire in my KT...and it's not best in citymaps....but in open maps...due to it's long viewrange.
