Hi guys.

I'm planning to buy new GPU to replace my current GeForce 210 GT 1GB GDDR2. Reason for this, is that this card only allows me to play on lowest settings possible. With lowest settings the FPS is fine(around 40) but things get bad when I go in sniper mode, aspecially when there's smoke around or trees/bushes.

So to get the most out of WoT and see the real deal, I need to replace this card ASAP.

I'm going for a cheaper and used GPU and decided to pay around 50~80€ max.

Problem is, I know nothing about GPUs in general and therefore I don't really know what to look for, to get desired performance.

A few cards that been going thru my mind:
GTX 650 1GB
GTX 550 Ti
HD 7770
Radeon HD 5XXX series?
Radeon HD 4XXX series?
GTS 450
older but cheap Geforce 8800 series

So anyone owning those cards or knows a little about them, how's the overall WoT performance with those cards and what graphic settings they allow to use to get decent FPS?

Or maybe someone got some other card ideas and can tell a little about their performance.

Oh and I use core 2 duo E6750 2,7 ghz CPU
4GB ddr2 RAM
400W power supply(I might get a new one)
Using 19" 1280x1024 monitor(also might change but not likely)

I'm really low on budget here and really want to get the most out of it.
Thanks in advance! :Smile_honoring:

are you willing to go second hand?

if so you might be able to find a gtx 460 1gb, which is good enough for 60fps on high settings with a few things turned off.

http://www.nvidia.co...buy_now_uk.html

this is how nvidia ranks there cards brand new so if you go second hand you can get higher up the ladder, sorry its not in euros

The GTX 460 is a good choice although I'm not certain from the top of my head if your PSU can handle it. If possible look for a cyclone version.

Dont get a secondhand 8800/9800 though. Those things tend to fry and die after a few years of intense usage which is usually the reason they are up for sale.

Be sure not to buy a dirt cheap one though. Are you looking to upgrade the whole system or just the videocard?

If not then don't get that 7770/550ti or anything above that. It would just be massive overkill.

Basically if you want cheap but can do the job, on the Nvidia side of things you want to look at anything above the GT630, avoid the 630 as its not a good card, its really low end, the 640 is a big jump in comparison and about 25 quid more, a 650 would be better still and can be had for around 80 quid from Scan.

Here's the cheapest from Scan.

And here's one going for auction on the bay of fleas.

You will probably need a new PSU as well 400w may not be able to supply enough power plus if it's an OEM PC you have then it probably doesn't have the six pin plug to supply the GFX Card with power.

So that's why my 9800GT died yesterday after the recent patch.

I think I'm going to buy brand new GTX 650 1gb, they range from 90~110€ I'm im not mistaken.

BTW if anyone has GTX 650 or GTX 550 Ti or perhaps Radeon 7770, please tell me how well does the game run and what's ur graphic settings in-game.

I have a gtx650 in one of my rigs at home it is capable of running WoT on reasonably high settings if you have a newish CPU either 2nd or 3rd gen Intel(which I don't in that rig) I normally have the settings quite low which gives me about 70 to 80 fps depnding which map I'm on if I had the choice I would go for the gtx 650ti not the standard 650 as the 650ti has better gfx capability. If money is a problem then the standard 650 should be more than capable of getting 40 to 50 fps on medium to high settings if it is combined with a newish cpu.

Hope this helps

Not much you can do really if you buy a new card then the bottleneck is going to be your processor. I have an old 9800gtx which is a bit dirty(Just needs the cooling thingymajig given a good clean) lying around you can have that if you want? I can post it to you just PM me with your address and don't worry i'm not likely to turn up on your doorstep with my toothbrush and eating irons lol.
