This is not a missfire. Tank was hit by AT missile probably RPG-29. Missile hit the explosive charges and tank goes kaboom.

Basicaly T-72 got ammo racked. In RL if shell hits tanks ammo rack chances of detonating are pretty much 100%.

Not a misfire. WARNING: These are obviously quite shocking to watch.

Here is the complete version (you can see the RPG used and you can see that the tank hadn't finished exploding yet).

And here is a slowed down version showing the RPG coming in to the tank.

Shocking if you have not seen this sort of stuff before so be warned, those in the tank all fried, no one got out of that, the guy in the jacket wasnt in the tank and damned lucky, there seems to be no infantry support (look at what is said on the you tube link), being ex military you understand that armour is very scary but without infantry support is also very vulnerable, especailly in towns.
The RPG firer did one thing wrong (well the camera man did) and that was to ensure there was no one behind him when he fired (the back fire can fry your own guys, the camera man was lucky!).
Most of the pictures you see on tv which are live action do not depict the sort of damage or death that you can imagine, I saw an entire block of flats destroyed under 152mm arty fire in Bosnia, I can say hand on heart that someone died in that but you do not relate to it, you see the shells landing in the news in places that have wars and you just say "wow, big explosion" but dont think about who was on the receiving end.

No matter what you think, you have just seen a tank crew die, remember that, even if they are seen as an enemy to some or a neutral to others.
