Hey!

An idea for a British high tier light/ recon vehicle to rival the AMX13!

Engine ideas

Stock = Jaguar J60 4.2Ltr - 220hp Petro

Upgrade #1 = Cummings BTA 5.9Ltr Diesel - 190hp

Upgrade #2 = Steyr M16 TCA HD (6-Cylinder) Diesel - 194hp

Thank you for reading, Post your thoughts below

(Yes this vehicle is from 1967, but it dosn't feature reactive armour, a sofisticated computer system or anything that would give it an obvious advantage, it is a comparison to the AMX13 series as it dates from roughly the same period)

It was designed too late - it doesn't fit the period (end of WW1 - sixties). Looks awesome though.

Yes, it is a little late, but it is only a year later than the redevelopment of the AMX13 that saw the 75mm gun replaced with the 90mm. Also if the current tech tree is anything to go by, the AMX13 (105) (which appears to merge the AMX13 (75) and (90) and introduce itself into tier 8) is a modification from 1987.

But anyway a modification from 1966 is fine, but a tank thats designed the year later is pushing it? Come on, it'd make an awesome scout, it weighs the same as an ELC AMX, the same size as the AMX13 (all be it a little longer) and as fast as a T50-2. You can't go wrong ;)

the devs have already said they don't mind crossing the 60s date line as long as the vehicle in question is not overpowered for the game.

it has never been about dates but about balance, the late 60s was simply seen as the turning point in tank development and armament development which could not be successfully integrated into the game format.

Its a tin can on tracks... granted a very fast Tin can, but still a tin can.

Anyone know what its Nuremberg lap times were?

Thank you! so there is some hope then? :D :D :D. As far as i can see from research, there is nothing really overpowered about the FV101. Its armour isn't the best, but its speed and suggested 90mm gun should be able to leave a mark on unsuspecting vehices :D

Tin can indeed :D,

I'd say something near the speed of the Ford Transit that Jeremy Clarkson took around the Nuremberg :P

Good question, i Guess you could have the 'new branch' similar to the following?

II - Cruiser Mk.III
III - Cruiser Mk.IV
IV - Covenanter
V - Crusader
*New Branch*
VI - A46 (14 - 16 tonne, 77mm gun)
VII - FV301 or TV15000
VIII - FV101

Afterwards it could go into the medium line of Centurion Mk.1 (VIII) or Centurion Mk.7/1?

Why not roll the A13's into one, and then replace the tier II one with a Vickers light, and continue hte Branch off that. Something like:

Vickers Medium MKI
[]
Vickers Light MK VI
  [] []
A13   Harry Hopkins

Isn't that one of the little green smelly deamons that runs around in Games workshop games?

Um, maybe i'm forgetting something here, but what's the advantage of the Cummings and the Steyr over the jaguar engine? Given that, like 90% of games, WoT doesn't model torque.

The Jaguar J60 is a petrol engine, whereas the Cummings and Steyr are both diesel.
In game, there are a few vehicles that have a stock petrol and upgrade to diesel engines that has the same or less horse power.

I understand what you mean, but because i don't have a game development background i can't really answer :/

Being a Brit i am so loving the suggested addition of a Scorpion, 1 addendum the 76mm ArmdC barrel stock then the HV 30mm Rarden as the upgrade. Bring on the Discarding Sabot goodness.

6 rnds mag size loaded from 2 x 3rnd clips so total 6 rnds in semi or full auto. But leave it fire 2 x 3 rnd burst in game. Canister shot only good for clearing unwanted passengers of your muckas hull and for Bring Your Own Gun clay shooting.

if an engine in game goes from petrol to diesel it tends to get higher HP and less chance of fire

Absolutely agree we could see the Scorp and its development elements come in.

- FV301 (1950)
- TV-15000 (1964)
- CVRT Scorpion (1973)

The problem with it in RL was it stopped too quickly - Sounds bizarre but hammering along then suddenly stopping on a normal road was a nightmare for the traffic behind as it would rear up at the back end then come down on whatever was now under the rear! This was very embarrassing to the driver having to pick up smeared Mercedes off the Tarmac ;p
