Today i finished the grind in this tank. I started hating it but after learning their strengths i enjoyed it. The main tip i can give is to only shoot the side and the rear of the enemies trying to track them and only expose to do that. I aslo recommend some gold rounds (10-15) for st-i and kv4. Doing this i finished after 130 games with 55wr 915exp average and a new personal record 1900xp non premium in one battle.

I'm really enjoying this little beauty so far, only been in 31 battles but 68% WR and 729 avg experience & 1k avg damage.

Like the comet, I'm often being integral in tier 9 battles and making an impact.

I have recently finished the grind T-43 to T-44. I did enjoy this tank, but it has weaknesses.

I got oneshot, or set on fire a lot of times, before I learned a simple thing: do not expose yourself. You can't go 1on1 frontally with almost anyone. Also, MM is unforgiving as well, so you are forced to play smart, or to suck hard.

First of all, you need good map knowledge. You should know by now all those special places that offer you good spotting position with very low chance of being shot at. Gun depression is very useful on this tank, and turret does bounce a lot of shots. Climbing the hill on Prokhorovka for example is a good place to use strengths of this tank.

Simply put it in your head, when you play this tank, do not go frontally on anything. And the advantage you have is being able to reposition. It is not your job to push forward. Increase your map awareness and try to identify weakspots in opponents' lines.

Also HP pool of 1100 isn't that bad actually. You can still take a shot from top tier HT or TD and stay alive and make your play. Killing Obj 704 for example, even after taking a 800dmg shot is totally worth it, even if dying immediately afterwards.

You will not be able to carry your team to victory quite often, but you should be able to contribute greatly to the success.
And sometimes it pays off even just to shoot the opponent in tracks and keep him pinned if you can't do damage to him. You still get decent XP from it.

After that, I started playing T-44. It is  A BLAST! While being stock, i managed to really dominate the games! In 2 games in a row i got mastery badge 2nd class, and 1st class right after it! At the moment, i only have tracks researched, and I'm loving this tank. I can only imagine what a joy it will be when fully upgraded.

I think that playing this med line, the key to success is in the mindset of the player, not the vehicle itself.

I think this is my main problem with it.

It's difficult when you aren't on top to really swing a game as easily as other tanks. Alot of games I find are the ones where Premium Tier 8 tanks are top tier (or there may be a handful of 9s) and with lots of 8s you are frequently at the mercy of teammates - yesterday my personal stats (Frags, Accuracy, Damage) were fine if unspectacular, yet my W/L was 23% until I gave up on the T-43.

The T-43 is one of the very few tanks in which I actually have a win ratio above 50% (53% last time I checked).
And that wouldn't be possible if the T-43 was underpowered, since I am an utter noob.
It's not an absolutely amazing tank, but it's a very well balanced all-rounder I think.
If your team mates are eager to die fast (as they mostly are), and half of your team is lost within the first 1½ minutes of the battle - there is nothing you can do in the T-43.
But it is a very good mid- to late-game flanker.

That gun is more than sufficient, I managed to destroy an IS-7( with some gold of course) in my stock T-44.

It has great dpm, good mobility/ speed and I really feel like having armor (maybe these are lucky bounces but still, I really enjoy it).

I don't understand why this utterly mediocre tank is so expensive to repair.

With 1-2 modules down (so every game) you look at 9.500 credits, more than a fully riced out WZ-132.

It's gonna be a long 95k experience :(

And yeah the module damage/fires are hilarious, worse than Cromwell even.

I remember playing T-43 in BETA test and recently bought it again to grind to T-44. I must admit I was expecting a lot worse. Memories of it were horrific. However it's not that bad anymore. Yes it's a very hard tank to play and I use a split of AP and APCR.

But if your opponents are slow you have enough time to lock yourself into some spotting position and let other people with better guns do the killing. Or if it's not possible just use peekaboo - your mobility is good enough for it, you reload fast, gun aim is decent and when ever the enemy gun is not facing towards you just take a shot.

But indeed the penetration is frustrating. Even with gold ammo.

Its not under powered the 166 battles to get 93.6K for the T44 flew by quickly.

It felt like a 3485 on roids and with luckier bounces.

The 4.54 reload time means in fighting you can do similar to T-34 and pump round after round while they reload. KV1S fear me as I can put 3 (accurately) into every 1 he can put in my direction.  It did however burn a lot.

I also tended to run out of ammo every other battle.

My first battle was absolutely amazing though (loss) 3900dmg and I was bottom tier.

Haven't played a lot med-tanks till recently, thought I give it a try again. Got me the T-43 and found it to be quite fun actually.  Could use a little bit more agility OR armour though, to increase it's survivability.

Got only 50 battles in it yet but a decent WR of 60%.

Can only guess by now but IMHO, the most important part of having sucsess with this tank is patience.

Wait until e is engaged in fights w tougher tanks of ur team, slip through if possible or peek-a-boo from behind( though mediocre pen is a problem here -->gold ammo is often necessary here).

U can brawl a bit against lower tiers, but T7-9 will light u up SO quickly u'd wonder wtf just happened, so it seems like ur primary goal is not to get hit (more than once or twice) :hiding:

Worked for me at least!
do kinda like this tank, but it seems really hard to master, since u have to work hard to put it to good use in a battle.

After finishing the grind from stock Panther to E50m, I've found the T-43 practically useless since it has worse penetration than the VK3002 (M) for example. I wasn't a medium tank player, found it hard to be effective with them but I've learnt some tricks by grinding the E50m. Only things I like in the T-43:

a) Kinda narrow tank, so if you fit, you can sit

b) Very frontally placed turret so peek-a-boo is easy with this one (needless to say if you fail a peek-a-boo then you will have your half crew and modules wrecked by almost any calibered gun)

c) Very nice gun depression

Tested the T-44 on the test server, liked it, fast, small, nice gun. I think 175 penetration is enough to damage enemies, since you will always shoot weakspots. For me I even aim for weak spots even on Tier 4, Tier 5 tanks, since I've got used to it.

After you get the D5T-85BM the tank becomes amazingly good.

amazingly good, nope, but it's not bad tank at all

D5T-85BM is same as on T 34-85 so T34-85 was little bit better :)

EDIT: finally ace tanker  >>http://wotreplays.com/site/745259#self<<

i have to say i was worried when i started grinding the soviet medium line i would fail the grind on this tank but i have to say i like it sofar.

its no wondertank able to do mazing feats, but it plays fair, very medium like and its good for one or another surprise attack. I am happy i finally decided to grind those mediums after almost three years in this game.

There are ways to do well in the T-43, but depending on the match you must adjust your role accordingly. If you cannot directly harm your opponents you can load some High Explosive and track them, keeping them so for your team to take them out - and for you to get juicy bonus XP from it. You can play the off-scout, or you can try the circle of death when mopping up enemies.

It might be a good idea to have a small amount of APCR shells on board for "special" circumstances, such as when you're forced to go against heavy tanks you cannot easily harm from the flanks or rear, or when you really need to secure a kill for the team's sake, but I wouldn't (and don't) rely on them. Overall, the T-43 is an opportunistic jack of all trades, at least based on how I play it.

So, TLDR... Adjust your role depending on the match, and prioritise your targets. Try to avoid trying to hurt heavies, or finding yourself in circumstances where you can't use your mobility. Destroy the other team's scouts and medium tanks, scout carefully for your team, and track tough targets for the bonus XP from assistance.

Repost from the other T-43 thread:

I just grinded though this thing and I have to say: It's a decent tank. It's no T34-85 but I expected a worse performing machine. You just have to play like a cautious med. Support your heavies, flank and if the situation looks dire, get the hell out of there and support somewhere else.

I have a solid winrate with it but will keep the KV13 and progress to the T44 which shows great potential. EDIT: It has great potential! :D

Greets

Schepp himself

P.S.: here's a replay that shows what this thing can do. Surely a lucky battle. This thing can do it's part in a battle, though,

Not a bad tank, I actually quite enjoyed it (for a t7 tank). Don't overexpose yourself and flank a lot and it'll be just fine. When toptier the turret is bouncty but t8+ pen it easily.

The tank has no distinct weaknesses but not distinct advantages either, however t7 is a bit of a meh tier anyways if I'm honest (you got some nice tanks but overall gameplay is a bit stale).
