Im been grinding the Covenanter several times, but have hated it almost every step of the way.

So my question is: Is the Crusader worth the effort? At the very least the Cromwell. Because if they are not I might as well get an M4 or T-34 again.

I did the same mistake as you, and I never came longer than the Crusader because it SUCKED!!! Absoulutely, I warn you from all my heart, not to buy it.... Even in full upgraded mode, it was thin like a papir and still sucked.. I prefer the heavy line now and reccomend it to you mate  :Smile_Default:

I ground up to, and including cromwell. And to sum them up in my opinion..

Good speed-quickness
Quick firing guns with poor pen and poor damage
armor about average...none

They are ok, but others are much better

yes, crusader is pretty bad (at least in my hands) not very accurate, slow for a light tank, there are faster meds and bad armour.

It improves at the comet, believe me.

I actually really liked the crusader once you got it pimped out. Also, Cromwell is pretty much the best T6 medium at the moment, if not one of the best T6 tanks overall. THAT will be totally worth it.

Crusader and Cromwell are both great tanks. The Crusader is like a little bug trundling about the map spitting out shells at an impressive rate. The Cromwell is a greyhound with a nasty bite.

You have got to make use of the fact it is a Light and not a medium to make a difference.
I am not always a good enough player to actually do this but when I succeed it is a really good tank.
Driving undected in cover is really helpfull.

I didnt find it too bad but I only had a few games with it (must have played it during the X5 xmas special). The cromwell is a decent med, quite fast, avg gun and useless armour.

The Crusader has a permanent slot in my garage. Or at least until a British light tank line is introduced...

It's a fun little tier 5 medium with awesome gun depression, nice agility, and amazing DPM. My biggest problem with it is running out of ammo (once I learned to stay alive).

It's maybe a little tough to play for people unwilling to adjust their playstyle to it, but it's not at all a bad tank.

And yes, the Cromwell is definitely worth it. One of the most fun tanks in the game, but also very much powerful. But it's features are best exploited by someone who can also handle the Crusader...

Edit:

The Comet is a tier 7 medium. When compared to its peers, it's actually quite great. I like my Comet just as I like my Cromwell and Crusader (I kept all three).

Cromwell is worth it, but the Crusader is useless compared to a T-34, or a M4 Sherman.

Crusader is a great tank if you use it right, if you dont you will have a really rough time in it.

cause its not same class, you cant play it same way ^^

you cant play head on with British, just come fast from flank or behind, hit and hide when you get attention from your target. and repeat till target dead :)

or as Ali would say, fly like butterfly, sting like a bee, just dont wait on one spot long enough to be hit

lol, I had it easy in all those cruiser tanks and everything that followed till I stepped into Comet  ........ now I am struggling. Funny isn't it. First  I blame MM teams and map selection. After that I discuss if there is much difference between me or you.  Cause my earlier results in that line is wahay over my normal reseults. So I was supported by good teams. Now the results are not so good. So is it the tank, is it me, or is it the teams.

I'm enjoying my crusader. Single handedly stopped four tanks including a KV-1 from advancing down the right side of the map on that Monastary map (that's what it's called in the replay file, can't be arsed getting the proper name).

Speedy little tank with a turret that bounces a lot of shots from the same tier. Frontal armour is CAPABLE of bouncing but won't do it often. So fight from the hull down position as often as you can. 6 pounder. Mk III is the only gun you'll need with her.

Crusader is rather meh, it's gun has no accuracy we could speak of, it is pretty much a crappy version of ZiS-4, and the tank is a bit faster version of T-34. Trading all the armour for it though, so not sure what is even to point of this thing. With accurate gun it would be nice with all the camo bonus of being a light tank and all, but as it now I would not bother with getting used to it and just grind the Cromwell.

Cromwell on the other hand is a fairly good tier 6 med, mobility is nice, gun is very good, it can get the work done in a fire-fight and if needed scout a little in higher tier battles. If you want a keeper this would be it, since Crusader is not that great for most people and Comet imho is worse version of T20.

Why would you compare it to a light tank, when it has the matchmaking of everytier 5 medium.

It's only a few tonnes lighter than the M7, and armed with the same gun.

Just because it says its a light tank, doesn't mean it should be played like one. Truth is it can't. You cannot scout with this tank, it does not have the speed or mobility.

The gun isn't anything special. The T-34 has a varient that is better in every exact way.

The only advantages it has over a tier 5 medium, is the camo whilst moving, and good gun depression. There is nothing else that it can do that it that a T-34 can't do better.

Crusader is a so-so light, i doesn't exel in any field, but it can do its work (rememer it's a light, so it can't do the job of heavies or mediums tanks)
But it's worth because cromwell is the funniest medium available, one of those tanks to keep (it deals dmg like the americans, but it's a lot more manouvrable)
Then comet, a clumsy medium, not so great, it lacks accuracy and acceleration, but the centurion is a great step forward.
