Hello tankees!

Wargaming provided us with an in-game Dutch language, but the words used are dull and seem unnatural. This might be because we never really fought a war with tanks ourselves (i.e. 'turret' simply has no decent translation in Dutch) or it is because Dutch sounds silly in any game. In any case, I prefer to play this game in English although my native language is Dutch. I like to hear from the Dutch players in what language they play. Dutch or English?

Best regards,
iSlaughter

I used English first because I didn't know there was a Swedish version, so I changed. But the translation was horrible so I switched back to English.

Yup I play in english to. Never tryd to switch to dutch in WoT, but I already know what it'd look like.
Every game that is nice enough to translate the client ends up in the same result, the stuf just looks better in english (more natural). Ofcourse the fact that you are used to the english things probably play a big role in this.

Hell, when I play MMO's I basicly think in english. Even when talking to people I know are dutch, I will still use english simply because I'm in that mode

Interesting, so Dutch is not the only language with a horrible translation. Curious though if there will be any vote for 'Dutch' in this poll. It would be scientifically more valid if only Dutch players voted :)

You could change the "Dutch" to "Native language (not english)" to account for that

Of course, but I know many German players that actually play in German. I might have to ask them why. For this poll I hope to focus on the Dutch players though.

I absolutely haaaaaate people who speak their native language in randoms.
Thats why I always use English myself, even though I'm from The Netherlands.

But I have to say I hate the Dutch language :P
Gawd awefull language. Mix of german, english, french, luxemburgian and norwegian.
Hate it !

Pshychologically speaking it;s easier for me to submerge myself in a game when I'm not reading/speaking/writing in Dutch.
I live in 2 worlds.
One world involves my school/job/bills... it;s Dutch
The other world is pleasure and fun, everything in English.

Im Dutch but use the English version. The Dutch version is too silly. I laugh hard when I see those screenshots form my clanmates with the translation.

Im from holland and i hate everything about it...
The language is just ****

I always joke around with my friends about Skyrim.
In our language that is "luchtvelg".

I want to change my language to English but can anyone tell me how?

English is better because so many people on the internet talk english and if you have a problem you can search it much easier

Another Dutchman here...

I prefer English in almost any application or game I use...

Why? Because I find it easier to derive the correct meaning and subtext directly from English,
then to try and find this while having to work through the (often horrid) mangling that occurs
when someone translates English to Dutch.

Not to mention that I commonly find stuff that I would've done a better job of translating...

I always use English , for several reasons; Translation sucks blue donkeyballs and it is a lot easier to understand discussions on the forums etc (or tutorials, videos and stuff), since you dont need to translate all the terms.

Hmm I thought Skyrim translates to 'hemelrand'...

Just shows how crappy Dutch is if the translation comes up with two totally different words...

I'm from the Netherlands too, but i use English only when playing. Seeing how much I dislike siema players talking in their native language, my guess it's the same for them if I speak Dutch.  :Smile_Default:

If you start the World of Tanks game client, you'll see the 'you are running the latest game client' screen with the large 'play' button. In this screen there should be a Dutch flag somewhere in the left top corner. If you click on this flag, there will appear a variety of choices, choose English here and you are off to go.

Still using dutch, but only because I don't bother changing it :). Otherwise, English would be the language

Didnt even know I could, and frankly wouldn't have cared anyway, Dutch doesn't fit in teh gaming world it's like listening to the Hoff singing in German*, plain silly.

*or any other language than his own, but I know he is popular with our eastern neighbors. :Smile-bajan2:
