hallo

i'm quite new to the game and my question goes like this:
does anyone have more information about the upcoming removal of the soviet t-50-2 light tank?
i've read somewhere that in the upcoming update (or maybe 8.5.?) wargaming will remove the t-50-2 because "it doesn't resemble the tank that existed in reality" or something like this.
they said they will replace it with another tank.

so what should i do?
i really love my scouting tanks and i have this one on my wish-list for a long time but now i'm not sure what to do.
should i still go for it?

what happens when WG removes a tank? maybe some of you guys know this from earlier similar incidents.

is it suddenly just gone and i would have wasted all the research and credits? (cause then i would use my precious credits to soon finally get the t-43 medium tank - i like light and medium tanks best)

or are they kind enough to replace an already bought t-50-2 with the new tank they want it to replace with? (i think the new replacement tank will be called "mt-25")

or would the t-50-2 still be in my garage? do i get to keep it and it just won't be for sale anymore? (in which case i definitely should buy it)

probably something like this has happend before and i'm looking forward to hear your thoughts on this.

good luck rolling out and thanks for your answers

tanks have been replaced before (T30 moved to tier 9 TD and replaced at tier 10 heavy tih T1110E5, T23 USA medium at Tier 8 replaced by Pershing) and whenever the new tanks have come in they come in with their own stats and do not just come in and replace so i would imagine that whenever/if the t50-2 is ever replaced it will be by a tank with its own stats and not the t50-2's stats. whether this means some sort of "compensation" for those with the t50-2...no idea.

As far as i recall they indicated, you will get a model swap with camo, equipment and consumables refunded, sent to depot. crew directly transferred to the new vehicle with no changes to crew skills.not sure if crew are a bit different though.

no compensation was mentioned  :Smile_veryhappy:

Ectar said a while back that it would be remodelled to look more like the Tetrach and would lose more speed when turning.  However, I cannot find his post, he didn't answer a PM requesting the link and I cannot find any information about changes to the T-50-2 other than rumour.

As a T-50-2 driver myself I shall watch this thread with interest hoping for some official answers...

"model swap" sounds nice
sounds ok
maybe i should just go for it and enjoy riding that tank while it is still out there

i think it was in a wot-video where the guy who is always "greeting us players" mentioned that the new replacement tank would have pretty similar specs than the t-50-2.
so transfering the crew with no skill loss would make sense
i mean how hard can it be for them
levers at a slightly different place, buttons maybe in different colours, etc ...
should be possible for the crew to adjust easily
just pushing that gas pedal and roll

i think i slightly misquoted that guy from the wot-video because if i recall correctly he said that the new tank "mt-25" would be or feel similar to drive than the t-50-2. (i think he didn't say much about specifications)

so there is no official word out there yet how they treat the t-50-2 and how the new light tank will fit in?

i found the video again with the guy from wargaming where he talks about why they want to delete the t-50-2 and what they plan to do.
it's at 4:17 minutes. maybe this is as official as it gets so far

Because t50-2 always gets tier 10 battles it is pointless now to play this motorbike. Want scouting? Go for WZ lights. They also get tier 10 battles but at least you have a firepower to damage someone(damage=exp. Spotting-not that much exp).
The only point i see to play t50-2 would be if they would make it credit maker: decrease vehicle repair cost to 1-2k and increase credits income for it. But again, you may start seeing numbers of t50-2's just entering match and dying in first minute.
Or make it premium tank.

Anyway, its useless motorbike at the moment.

T-50-2 will most likely become Tier VI and T-50 gonna be V tier, similar situation to german lights

Yeah, as a suicide scout it's usueless just like any other, but when you see it as a T-34 on steroids and play it as one, it's so, so much better.

For the record, i rarely used prem ammo ( and i do not use it at all these days ), and i maybe platoon with  it a few times a month.

2091 battles played. My pride and joy!

So is it getting removed?
Previously, if you had a tank, which was removed, you still had the tank (like the German-French premiums).
I was considering getting it.
It seems so much better than T-50 "on paper" and is T5, which means it gets into big battles. :)

no it is getting replaced, which is a totaly different story.
the replacement tank has been announced as a different model with the same vehicle characteristics about half a year ago and we are waiting for it ever since.

Like you said , the video is almost a year old . I think WG forgot to remove the T-50-2 or they were joking ( just like they said that Westfield bridge will be repaired  :teethhappy:  ).
